Foxboro, 0 @ Northbridge, 3 – Final
King Philip, 1 @ Franklin, 3 – Final – Click here for a Photo Gallery from this game. – Franklin lit the lamp twice in the second period and tacked on an empty net goal with 20 seconds to play to secure a league win over rival King Philip. The Panthers picked up a big win over the Warriors last month but this one played out much closer. After a scoreless first period, Ben Paterson put the Panthers ahead off a pass from Zach Langevin to make it 1-0. Franklin doubled the lead at 5:22 in the second when Dylan McEvoy buried a feed from Ryan Sicchio. KP junior Tim Mullen slammed in a pass from classmate Nate Garstka with 9:39 to go but the Panthers held on. Ben Jarosz scored the empty-net goal for Franklin.
Mansfield, 1 @ Oliver Ames, 3 – Final – Oliver Ames built its lead with one goal in each the first and the second periods and used a late empty net goal to cap off a win over Mansfield. Freshman Brendan Teehan gave the Tigers the lead at 7:22 of the first period and Jack Corey doubled the lead at 8:15 of the second period. Mansfield sophomore Brendan Vokey cut the deficit in half with a goal at 7:28 of the third period but the Hornets had some penalties down the stretch, and an empty-net power play goal from Sean McCarthy with 4.1 seconds left iced the game.
North Attleboro, 0 @ Taunton, 1 – Final (OT) – Taunton senior Dylan McCaughey buried the game-winner less than two minutes into the overtime period to hand the Tigers a 1-0 league win over North Attleboro. Taunton sophomore Cam Tomaszycki (29 saves) and North Attleboro junior Kyle Gruber (31 saves) kept the game scoreless for three periods. In overtime, Taunton senior Connor McGrath used a self pass off the boards to create some separation, skated towards the goal and slid a pass across the middle that McCaughey slammed home for the win.

Canton, 2 @ Medfield, 0 – Final
King Philip, 3 @ Westwood, 1 – Final – Kelly Holmes had a hand in all three goals as King Philip picked up a solid non-league road win. Holmes finished with a goal and two helpers. Nicole McDonald (assist) and Katarina Precobb both scored and Mallory Johnston made 40 saves for the Hockomock League leaders.

BROCKTON, Mass. — Behind a pair of goals from senior Daniel Paul, the Oliver Ames boys hockey team skated to a win over Taunton in the Hockomock League opener for both teams.
Paul scored the lone goal of the first period and netted the game-winning goal just over a minute into the third period as Oliver Ames earned a 4-2 win over the visiting Tigers.
“These games can be the toughest sometimes, when you’re holding the pressure and getting a lot of shots,” said first-year OA head coach Jimmy Tierney. “Their goalie played very well tonight, he didn’t make it easy on us. But I think our team did a good job of trusting the process, trusting our gameplan, and knew that if they stuck with it, they’d get the result they wanted.
“The end of the second, we got away from our game there but the boys did a really good job of refocusing for the third period and came out and got the two points.”
Senior Jack Perron doubled OA’s lead with five minutes left in the second period but a late penalty handed Taunton a chance to get back into it, and the visitors cashed in as Connor McGrath made it 2-1 with under a minute to go in the period.
The momentum didn’t carry over into the third for Taunton as the hosts had a fast start to the third. Paul took a feed from Jack Corey — who set him up for his first goal — and roofed a shot 71 seconds into the third to restore a two-goal advantage at 3-1.
“We’ve talked about it since the beginning of the year, it’s easy to do things in the first period but when it’s time to bear down and you’re tired in the third, that’s when you find your leaders, that’s when they step up,” Tierney said. “That’s something Dan Paul has been doing here for four years now, he’s been a consistent leader for this team and he really showed it in the third.”
Taunton sophomore Cam Tomaszycki had a great game in net, recording 45 saves to keep the visiting Tigers in the game. On top of denying OA a handful of times on a 5-on-3 in the second period, Tomaszycki had some key saves on an early man-advantage chance from OA in the third.
That kept the door open for Taunton and McGrath cashed in again, this time with five minutes to go in the third to make it a one-goal game.
But for the second time, Oliver Ames had a quick response. Just over two minutes after McGrath made it 3-2, OA freshman Brenden Teehan batted a loose puck out of the air after Tomaszycki made a big save on a shot from sophomore Shaun Teehan, and OA once again led by a pair, this time at 4-2 with 2:53 left in the game.
“They were rolling three lines and six defense, and we were a bit shorthanded so it can tiresome after a while,” said Taunton head coach Kris Metea. “Then the frustration set in and we started getting in penalty trouble, that killed us. We were in the box too many times, you can’t get into a rhythm like that.
“[Cam] did great. He knew we were missing guys and we’re shorthanded on the season, missing key guys, and he was going to have to step up and he did. He did everything he was supposed to do and then some, I’m proud of him.”
Oliver Ames took control of the play early on, including a shot from Sean McCarthy that hit off the post and stayed out. Their pressure in the offensive end paid off late in the period as McCarthy won a battle down low and Corey quickly shuffled a pass in front that Paul one-timed in for a 1-0 lead.
A late power play allowed Taunton to register over half of their seven shots in the period, the best chance coming off a wrister from McGrath that was gloved by OA goalie Brandon Burke.
OA continued its pressure in the second, peppering Tomaszycki with 22 shots in the middle period alone. A high stick gave OA an early power play but Tomaszycki made a big stop on McCarthy off a pass from Andrew Livingstone, and then at the very end of the man advantage, the Taunton goalie recovered nicely to deny Shaun Teehan on the rebound.
Taunton nearly had a breakaway midway through the period as Colton Scheralis broke free through the neutral zone but OA defenseman Sean Kearns recovered and knocked the puck away.
OA had a 5-on-3 shortly after but couldn’t get one past Tomaszycki. The best chance came when Livingstone had his bid denied and Perron had a chance on the rebound, but Tomaszycki recovered in time for the stop.
With five minutes to go in the second, junior Matt Lawson carried into the attacking zone for OA and the host Tigers got off a couple of shots with a scrum in front before Perron buried it from in close to make it 2-0.
With under a minute to go, Scheralis blasted a shot off the glass behind the goal but the puck bounced back out in front and McGrath was there to tuck it away on a tight angle.
A minute into the third, Corey jumped onto a puck in the neutral zone, pushed it forward to Paul as he streaked into the offensive zone all alone and roofed one to make it 3-1.
Oliver Ames boys hockey (1-0 Hockomock, 4-2 overall) is on the road on Saturday to take on North Attleboro at 6:30. Taunton (0-1, 4-3) returns home to host King Philip at 1:00 on Saturday.
Boys Hockey
Attleboro, 10 vs. Tri-County, 4 – Final – Attleboro exploded for six goals in a scoring-filled second period and went on to pick up a win over Tri-County. The Bombardiers scored less than three minutes into the game and twice just seconds apart late in the period to establish a 3-0 lead. The two teams combined for nine goals in the second period, including four in a row from Attleboro with under seven minutes to go. Michael Lachance paced the offense with a hat trick while Antonio Mancini, Nathan Conroy, and Jack Moran scored their first career goals.
Foxboro, 4 @ Blue Hills, 2 – Final
Franklin, 7 @ King Philip, 0 – Final – Franklin scored a pair of goals within the first five minutes of the contest and erupted for five goals in the second period to skate away with a big non-league win over King Philip. Dan Daley put the visitors ahead just 68 seconds into the game, and Ryan Sicchio doubled the lead with 10:03 to play in the first. Sicchio scored a minute into the second and completed his hat trick before four minutes expired in the second. Anthony Lampasona, Vinnie Pasquarosa, and Dylan McEvoy each added a goal in the second.
Mansfield vs. Warwick Vets (R.I.), 7:00
Oliver Ames, 3 vs. Rockland, 1 – Final – Oliver Ames jumped out to a two-goal lead in the first period and tacked on a key insurance goal in the third to hand head coach Jimmy Tierney his first career win. Dan Paul opened the scoring for the Tigers off of an assist from Jack Corey, and sophomore Shaun Teehan doubled OA’s advantage by finishing off an assist from Jack Perron. After Rockland cut the deficit in half in the second, Perron (from Landon Grothe and Sean McCarthy) iced the game with a third period goal.
Stoughton/Brockton, 3 vs. Dartmouth, 4 – Final – Charlie Caputo, Colby Strunk and Brendan Twohig each scored once but the Black Knights fell at home to Dartmouth.
Taunton, 5 @ Apponequet, 2 – Final – Taunton senior Colton Scheralis continued his strong start to the season, finding the back of the net four times to pace the Tigers to a win over Apponequet. Connor McGrath also scored while Dylan McCaughey, Conner Goranson, Travis Cashman, Breighdyn Simmons, and Brady Gomes all recorded assists. Cam Tomaszycki made 16 saves in the win.
Girls Hockey
Canton, 3 @ Franklin, 2 – Final (OT) – Click here for a photo gallery of this game. – Freshman Kayleigh Koen scored the game-winning goal on the power play to give Canton a thrilling 3-2 overtime win on the road at Franklin. The Bulldogs twice took the lead, first in the final minute of the first period and then again with under six minutes to play in the game. But Franklin had an answer each time in regulation, tying the game at 1-1 less than two minutes into the third and then with just under two minutes to play to force overtime. Ellie Bohane gave Canton the lead with 47.8 seconds left in the first period, slamming home a rebound after a good save from Franklin goalie Izzy Brown. After a scoreless second period, Franklin found the equalizer early in the third. Shaw Downing ripped a wrist shot through traffic that took a deflection off a stick and in to make it 1-1 with 13:18 left. Canton cashed in on a 5-on-3 power play late in the third as Izzy Cusack redirected a low shot from Maya Battista to give the Bulldogs a 2-1 lead with 5:40 to play. The Panthers answered again as Downing kept the play alive, Molly Hurley tossed the puck in front and Julia Flynn buried it to make it 2-2 with 1:44 left. After a penalty gave Canton an offensive zone face off, Audrey Koen won it back to Battista, who slid it across to Kayleigh Koen and she buried his wrister for the win.
Hockomock Stars, 4 @ King Philip, 8 – Final – Nicole McDonald, Kelly Holmes, and freshman Katie McGann each scored twice to lead the Warriors to a league win. Eighth grader Ella Morgan and freshman Lydia Maxwell also found the back of the net for KP, each scoring the first goals of their varsity careers. Holmes added three assists and eighth grader Calleigh Brady had a pair of helpers, while Maxwell, Morgan, and Mara Boldy each assisted on one goal. Mallory Johnston and Haley Bright combined for 21 saves in the win.
Stoughton/Sharon, 1 @ Newton North/Newton South, 8 – Final – Stoughton’s Ava Buckley scored the lone goal for the Black Knights. Sharon eighth grader Sarah Scappaticci starred in net, making 56 saves in the loss.

Sharon, 54 @ Canton, 21 – Final – The defending league champs opened the dual meet season with a convincing win at Canton. Ashmith Yeruva, Vehnil Rangaraman, Cam Birnbaum, Nick Varvak, Aaron Stafford, Mason Lelling and Cormac Horlbogen all won their matches by pin for the Eagles.
Taunton, 57 @ King Philip, 18 – Final – The Tigers received wins from Johnnie Mainer Smith, Calvin Riveras, Ryan Jones, Xavier Sandoval, Anthony Vieira, Ben Mandeville, John Mandeville, Ethan Harris, Avery Justa, Logan Frank, and Bobby Tran in the win over King Philip.
Oliver Ames, 54 @ Mansfield, 30 – Final – Oliver Ames junior Anthony Stone (160) picked up his first varsity win with a first period pin and senior Nathan Lipski had a thrilling first round pin to beat the buzzer as the Tigers beat Mansfield. OA also got wins from freshman Jonah Bornstein (106), senior Jake Manthous (182), junior Nick Bosader (195), and sophomore Wood Habens Pierre-Louis (285).

Mansfield, 136.25 @ Attleboro, 132.2 – Final – Mansfield’s Maddie Morris won a pair of events, Sophie Moore and Riley Charest each won one, and the Hornets opened their season with a win over Attleboro. Morris won both the beam and the floor (9.2), Moore took first in the vault (9.1) as well as third on the bars (8.3), and Charest was first on the bars (8.5) and second on the floor (9.05) to pace the Hornets. Attleboro’s Caroline DiMarco was top three in all four events, taking second in each the vault (9.0), the bars (8.4), and the beam (8.5) and third on the floor (9.0).

2021 Record: 3-11 2021 Finish: Reached Div. 1 South Preliminary Round Coach: Kevin Patton
Attleboro had some growing pains during the 2021 campaign, but has a good chunk of the roster back in the fold for 2022 and will try to take the next step forward as a program.
The Bombardiers will have a strong foundation on the defensive end of the field. Captain Fred Wheaton is back for another year to anchor the defense and he’s joined by fellow returners Bobby Sawyer and John Wheaton to give Attleboro a solid veteran nucleus to try and shut down some of the top offenses in the league. Attleboro also has sophomore Harry Wheaton back in net after gaining valuable experience in the cage in 2021.
Having last year’s top scorer in Carter Shelton back in the fold will give the Bombardiers a good start in the attack. Shelton scored 30 goals and had 15 assists, finishing 12th in the Hock in scoring. Captain Keigan Conley is also back to bolster the attack, coming off a 22 goal, 10 assist campaign a year ago. Freshman Nathan Conroy is also in the mix already in the attack.
Attleboro’s midfield will be anchored by captain Ryan Betts along with Chad Beaupin and Seth LaPlace. The Bombardiers also expect contributions from Cole McKenna, Patrick McAvoy, and Spencer Scherck.
“We have a lot of returning guys that picked up valuable varsity experience last season,” said Attleboro head coach Kevin Patton. “We are looking forward to a strong season in 2022.”
2021 Record: 14-2 2021 Finish: Reached Div. 2 South Semifinal Coach: Ryan Quinn
Canton split its two games with Foxboro to win a share of the Davenport title in 2021, just the third league title in program history and were an overtime goal away from reaching the Div. 2 South final. The Bulldogs have a lot of experience in the attack and the midfield this season with the goal of putting in another challenge for the league crown and putting together another state tournament push.
The Bulldogs had a dynamic attack last spring and the league’s leading scorer Sam Carlino headlines a strong group this season as well. Junior Jeff Chaput joins Carlino in the attack and the midfield group is filled with experience from last season. Sophomore Brendan Tourgee, juniors AJ Thomas and Chris Hamilton, senior Eddie Gillis, and Charlie Vaughn will all give Canton playmaking at the middie position.
Defensively, Canton will definitely miss graduated goalie Dylan Coyne but the Bulldogs have a talented group of poles that should be tough to score against this season. Senior Sean Connolly will lead that defensive group alongside sophomores Luke Darling and Colin Blake.
“I am really excited about this upcoming season,” said second-year coach Ryan Quinn. “Our student-athletes have been working hard to build on our success from last season, but are very aware that everything we achieve is based upon the work we put in this year, every day. We are led by a small, but strong senior class, and have depth across all four grades levels. This group is a very coachable group and we are very excited to begin”
2021 Record: 11-4 2021 Finish: Reached Div. 2 Central/East Quarterfinal Coach: Matt Noone
After graduating just two seniors from last year’s team, Foxboro is back with a strong lineup that will look to reclaim the Davenport title that it shared with Canton in 2021. The Warriors will have depth up and down the field with the goal of not only returning to the top of the division but also being ready for a deep run in the statewide tournament.
Foxboro’s attack is all back from last season. The Warriors finished third in goals scored in the league in 2021 and a year’s worth of experience should make them even more dynamic. Junior Conor Noone was the league’s third-leading scorer last season and he will lead the line again alongside sophomore Lincoln Moore, coming off a breakout rookie campaign, and senior Jack Avery. Senior Tommy Sharkey was an all-star middie last season and he will be joined by junior Finn Stapleton and sophomore Tony Sulham, another player who made a strong varsity debut as a freshman.
Depth should be a strength for the Warriors, who return their second midfield group as well, including sophomores Sully Kenneally, Ryan Cotter, and Ian Foley. Foxboro’s defense is returning as a group too. Seniors Dylan Kerrigan and Ben Ricketts are the leaders at the back and will be joined by classmate Mark Jansen. Senior Matt Grace will start at LSM with sophomore Jack Sullivan backing him up. Sophomore Adam Addeche is back in goal, backed up by classmate Nate Urman, and freshman midfielder John Sacchetti and defender James Dee Gaffney are newcomers with potential.
“The Warriors graduated two seniors and return the core of their team,” said Foxboro coach Matt Noone. “Everyone is a year older with varsity experience which will help us in our 2022 push.”
2021 Record: 18-1 2021 Finish: Reached Div. 1 South Final Coach: Lou Verrochi
After reaching the program’s first sectional final in 2021, Franklin brings a typically strong lineup of experienced players who will be aiming to make a run in the new statewide tournament. The Panthers have loaded up their regular season schedule to prepare for the rigors of the tournament with state powers Medfield, Lincoln-Sudbury, and St. John’s Prep among the teams that Franklin will challenge itself against to be ready to shoot for silverware this spring.
Franklin’s attack scored more than 300 goals in 19 games last season and should be just as dynamic this year with junior All-American Luke Davis joined by classmate Jayden Consigli, who were both in the top five in scoring in the league in 2021. Junior Tyler Sacchetti will be the third member of the attacking crew. Sophomore Drew Hansen and Ed O’Brien and junior John Walshe will make up the first midfield. Junior Justin Alexander was one of the best face-off middies in the state last year and the Panthers will be counting on him to control possessions again this season.
Senior Kyle Palmieri will lead the defensive group, which should once again be a challenge for the opposition to score against. Junior Ben Harvey and senior Billy Gardner will also be key players at close defense. Sophomore goalie Matt Corvi will step into the cage this spring and has the potential to be a standout.

2021 Record: 9-5 2021 Finish: Reached Div. 1 South First Round Coach: Hal Bean
With more than a dozen players back in the fold from last year, King Philip is looking to take another step forward after posting a 9-5 record last year.
The Warriors have key pieces in the lineup all over the field, starting with senior goalie James Boldy. Boldy had a great campaign a season ago and will be among the top goalies in the league this year. He will work with fellow senior captain Will Weiblen and senior Shaun Fitzpatrick as the anchors of the King Philip defense.
There is a strong core of midfielders back in the mix this year, starting with returning faceoff specialist Thomas Brewster. He will be joined by a very experienced group that features seniors Ben Riggs, Sean McCarthy, Andrew Longobardi, Nolan Feyler,
Brayden Thompson, John Campbell, and Ian Hill, along with sophomore standout Noah Minkwitz. Riggs (31 points last year) will be one of the most dangerous two-way players in the league but KP has a lot of depth in the position.
Offensively, King Philip has Sean Crowther back in the fold, who was just one of six Hock players to reach the 40-goal mark on the season. He’s joined by Kip Bishop and Colin Lightbody, who both registered 19 points a year ago, as well as Colin Gillis and sophomore Donovan DeVellis.
“King Philip boys lacrosse expects to compete in every game and anticipates a productive season and playoff run,” said KP head coach Hal Bean “We all are looking forward to a fun season!”
2021 Record: 6-8 2021 Finish: Reached Div. 1 South First Round Coach: Tim Frias
With a handful of young faces fighting for spots in the lineup, Mansfield is hoping to pick up valuable experience early and make a late charge for a spot in the state tournament.
The Hornets do have some experience on the defensive side of the ball with Ryan DeGirolamo starting in the cage and senior captains Zander Holmes and Mark DiGirolamo patrolling the space in front of him. Mansfield has a handful of young poles that will be in the mix including Liam Barry, Patrick Gormley, Nolan Bordieri, and James DeGirolamo.
The group of upperclassmen will make up the majority of the field with senior Dash Munson joining a trio of talented juniors in Grady Sullivan, Drew Sacco, and Cody Gordon. The Hornets have a lot of young players looking to find spots in the midfield and lineup and general, and new names that could contribute early on include Aidan Steele, Jake Feinberg, and Liam Steele.

In the attack, senior Jack Roberts will be accompanied by a pair of sophomores in Tommy Smith and Andrew Burnham.
2021 Record: 2-11 2021 Finish: Missed postseason Coach: Austin Costa
Under the guidance of new head coach Austin Costa, the Scarlet Hawks are aiming to show improvement throughout the season and set the program on an upward trajectory.
There is a strong mix of veteran leadership and new faces eager to find a spot in the lineup for Costa and the Scarlet Hawks this season. Senior captain Eric Landry is set to be the leader on the defensive end, and his experience will be key as Milford tries to fend off some lethal offenses. Landry will be joined by Brian Goncalves and junior Nick Casilli, both returners for the Scarlet Hawks. Defensive experience will be key as the Hawks turn to Alex McGuire for his varsity debut in the cage.
Offensively, look for veterans Jacob Ligor and Eric Farrell to be major contributors for the Scarlet Hawks. Both have a good amount of experience playing at this level and know what it takes to compete in the Hockomock League. Other returners for Milford include Kyle Donelan, Shawn O’Donnell, and Ronn Swineford while freshmen Alex Maietta and Jayden Martins have impressed early on and could be key contributors right away.
2021 Record: 7-8 2021 Finish: Reached Div. 2 Central/East Quarterfinal Coach: Kevin Young
North Attleboro finished in a tie for third in the Davenport division last year and had an impressive playoff win over Belmont before being beaten by sectional finalist Medfield. The Rocketeers only graduated two players from last season’s team, so Big Red comes into the spring with big expectations of competing for a first league title since 2017 and being a threat in the state tournament.
The North attack should be an area of strength this season with seniors Matt Antonetti, Connor Ruppert, and Clayton Billingkoff all back up top. Antonetti led the team with 57 points in 2021. Juniors Jack Regan and Luke Ward have both had strong preseasons, while freshmen Ethan Gustafson and Brady Brackner could be poised for breakout debuts. Senior Jared Vacher will do his best to get as many possessions as possible for the North attack by winning draws.
North’s defense has plenty of experience as well. Senior Max Hobbs, Anthony Ferro, and James Brennan will get plenty of help from sophomore Connor Rajotte and junior LSM Julian House. The Rocketeers can also count on two experienced goalies with senior Ethan McGrath and junior JT Gallagher both back in the cage this spring.
“We know the Hockomock will be strong this year,” said North coach Kevin Young. “I am excited to watch this group compete and grow as a team.”
2021 Record: 3-11 2021 Finish: Missed postseason Coach: Ben Devlin
Oliver Ames coach Ben Devlin stepped down after last season, but he was convinced to come back this spring to lead a young Tigers team. Twenty-four of the 34 players in the program this year are either freshmen or sophomores, so OA will be counting on younger players to step up across the field and Devlin is excited about the promise he sees during the preseason.
Senior midfielder Wyatt Fritchman and junior attacker Ben Reardon will be the leaders on offense. Fritchman was second on the team in scoring last year and Reardon went on a run of nine goals in the final three games of his sophomore season. Senior Wes Tower is back to run things in the midfield and sophomores Ryan Jaco and Alex McAndrew have the potential to find the back of the net.
On the other end of the field, senior Cam Tower has been converted to LSM this season. The other poles will be led by junior Jake Manthous, who also was in charge of the face-offs last year, and sophomore Landon Grothe. Junior Noah Isleib returns in goal to keep things organized on defense and sophomore Ethan St. Jean will be his backup.
“Despite being much younger, we are looking to improve on last year’s results and continue building the program,” said Devlin. “We expect to have some growing pains early in the season, but look to improve as the younger players get experience and develop their game during the season. It’s never easy to rebuild in a talented league like the Hock. There aren’t any easy games as every team is talented and well-coached…but we are setting our sights on winning enough games to reach the postseason.”

Sharon has a solid core back from last year’s nine-win team but without any juniors on the squad, there will be a lot of young players in the lineup with most getting their first taste of varsity lacrosse.
With over a half dozen seniors on the roster, head coach Jon Shocket will lean heavily on their veteran leadership and experience as the new players get integrated into the lineup and acclimated with the speed of the high school game. The senior trio of Ben Shocket, Brady Daylor, and Ryan Zunenshine are this year’s captains.
The other seniors on the team include Jace Nestler, Matt Mahoney, James Lillenfeld, and Chance Hanah, and all four will be vital as the Eagles make a push for the postseason. There are four freshmen already in the lineup including Matt Powers in net, Jordan Burke at attack, and Zach Bernstein and Ben Goldberg at defense. Sophomores Gabe Korn, Ryan Brown, Jacob Kaufman, and Ronin Widland will also be in the mix for the Eagles.
“I hope to get a lot of growth from our team as we get more experience,” Shocket said.

Franklin, 50 @ St. Paul, 31 – Final – Franklin swept the season series with St. Paul. After falling behind in the first, Franklin shut St. Paul out in the second to grab a lead it never relinquished. Stefany Padula led the way with 14 points, while Olivia Quinn and Brigid Earley each scored 11 for the Panthers.

The Warriors cut the deficit in half before the first intermission but OA tacked on a fifth goal to make it 5-2 going into the second. After a scoreless second period, Foxboro senior Steve Bridges scored midway through the third to make it a two-goal game but OA junior Sean McCarthy completed his hat trick moments later to restore the three-goal cushion. Sophomore defenseman Sean Kearns added a pair of goals and an assist and senior Elliot Cohen chipped in with a goal and an assist for the Tigers. Jack Corey notched a pair of assists while Matt Lawson, Jack Perron, and Andrew Poulos each had one assist.
Franklin, 13 @ Mansfield, 5 – Final – Justin Magazu scored four goals and had one assist and Dylan Marchand scored one and had five assists, as the Panthers won a shootout against rival Mansfield that moved them closer to a league title. Magazu scored twice in the first period along with goals by Domenic Lampasona and Christian Shabbick, as Franklin led 4-1 after one. Dillon Benoit (two goals and two assists) had the goal for the Hornets. Franklin added nine goals in the third period. Shabbick scored two to complete his hat trick, Magazu added two more, Ben Paterson scored twice, and Lampasona, Marchand, and Thomas Balducci each scored once. Benoit added his second goal for Mansfield. Matt Tourigney got one in the third and Kyle Oakley added two for the Hornets in the third period. Franklin finished with a 42-20 edge in shots. Cole Pouliot-Porter made seven saves and Joe Toracco made eight stops for the Panthers.

Freshman Catie Putt gave KP the lead in the first period but Franklin freshman Julia Flynn scored her first of her four goals just three minutes later on the power play to make it 1-1 after a period of play. Cunningham and Flynn then put on a show, each scoring a second period hat trick as the teams traded goals to make it 4-4 going into the third. Sophomore Kelly Holmes recorded three assists, Sydney O’Shea added a pair while Putt and Jen Daniels each had one. Lindsay Dennett and Haley Wernig each had an assist for the Panthers.

Canton, 6 @ Sharon, 66 – Final – Seniors Adam Landstein, Ben Shocket, Aaron Cashton, Phil Varvak, Conor Grew, and Khashayar Zafar all had pins throughout the match while a pinfall victory from Ben Grabie clinched the win and the Hockomock League Davenport division title for the Eagles.

Aidan Baum kicked things off for the hosts at 106 with a pin a minute into the first period. Mike Boulanger scored a 6-0 win at 113 and then Robby Lyons got a major win at 120, winning 18-1 to add five points for the Hawks. Alex Castro’s 8-2 victory at 126 made it 17-0 and then Joey Testa pinned his opponent in the first period at 132. Franklin’s first points came with a quick pin by Timothy O’Leary, who needed :33 to get six points at 138. Luke Donis got the six right back with a disqualification win at 145. Donis was leading 5-2 in the third period when the match ended. Franklin’s Alex Fracassa had a pin in :35 for this 100th career win to make it 29-9, but Danny Alves added four points for Milford with a 20-7 win at 160. Ryan Donovan added a second-period pin at 170 before Ryan Parlon won 5-0 at 182 for Franklin’s final points of the night. Cam Phillips (195), Hampton Kaye-Kuter (220), and Mike Mastroianni (285) added first-period pins to close out the meet for the Hawks.

Ayvazyan opened the scoring on a quick break out down the right wing three minutes into the game. North doubled its lead just 37 seconds later when Brady Sarro was on hand to knock in a rebound. Four minutes into the second, Nick Longa made it three, getting space in the right wing circle before firing in a power play goal. With 90 seconds left in the period, Brody Gaulin got a piece of Anthony Westcott’s shot from the point to make it 4-0 and then Ayvazyan netted his second of the day on a rebound with only 18.7 to go in the period. Freshman goalie Cam Tomaszycki had a strong game for the Tigers in the loss.

The Mustangs took the lead late in the first period, but Julia Flynn tied the game with 3:49 left in the second. She stole the puck at the blue line, deked the goalie to open space on the forehand, and stuffed her shot into the bottom corner to make it 1-1. Norwood answered back inside the final minute of the period. Freshman goalie Izzy Brown stopped a breakaway and made another great save to keep the Mustangs out, but the rebound couldn’t be cleared and Norwood tapped it in to go back in front. Norwood added a third three minutes into the third and sealed the win with an empty net goal. Brown finished with 29 saves in the loss.

Brandon Mendes won his first two matches by pinfall and then earned a 13-2 major decision in the final to take the title at 120, while Ben Mandeville sandwiched a pair of pins around an 8-6 decision in the semis to secure the title at 145. Foxboro, 70 @ Abington, 65 – Final – Foxboro took a lead in the first quarter and never trailed the rest of the way in securing a win on the road over Abington. Senior Dylan Gordon hit 10 shots from the field, including just one three-pointer, on his way to a career-high 27 points to pace the Warriors, who led 13-8 after one and 33-25 at halftime. Junior Alex Penders added 18 points while the Warriors got key three-pointers from Sam Golub, Ryan LeClair, Andrew Finn, and Cam Barreira. Foxboro carried a 50-44 lead into the final quarter.
Mansfield, 65 @ BC High, 87 – Final – Mansfield held a one-point lead (19-18) after the first quarter but couldn’t recover from the 10-point deficit it faced at halftime to suffer its first loss of the season. Senior Matt Hyland had a team-high 20 points while Dante James and Jack Lasbury-Casey each chipped in with 12 points.

Mansfield, 54 vs. Notre Dame Academy, 40 – Final – Mansfield trailed by two after the first quarter but then put together an 18-8 second to take a lead that it wouldn’t relinquish, picking up a non-league home win. Abby Wager led the way for the Hornets with 16 points and Natalya Gill added 13, including three makes from beyond the arc. The duo combined for 10 of Mansfield’s 12 points in the first, but NDA led by two after eight minutes. In the second, Mansfield scored 18 points to head into the locker room up by eight. Wager and Hallie Popat (seven points) each scored five in the quarter and Gill knocked down a three. Wager and Gill were back at it in the third, teaming up for 11 of Mansfield’s 15, as the Hornets went into the fourth up by 10. NDA was held to just five points in the final quarter, as Mansfield locked down defensively to seal the win. Kara Santos scored six points on her return to the lineup.

Franklin, 9 @ Foxboro, 1 – Final – Foxboro scored a first period goal to cut Franklin’s lead in half at 2-1 after a period of play, but the Panthers scored seven unanswered over the final two periods to secure the win. Ben Jarosz and Adam Quinn each scored twice and recorded two assists apiece to pace the Panthers’ offense. Dylan Marchand added a pair of goals and an assist, Dom Lampasona scored once and had one helper, and eight other Panthers recorded one point. Franklin freshman Jack O’Connor made 14 saves for the win. Ben Ricketts scored for Foxboro off of an assist from Derek Axon.

Sharon, 76 @ Oliver Ames, 61 – Final – Sharon scored 22 points in the opening quarter to build a double-digit lead that it never relinquished for its first win over Oliver Ames since 2016. Senior Will Hippler, junior Matt Baur, and sophomores Nate Katznelson and Jacob McLaughlin all connected from three-point range in the opening eight minutes as the Eagles shot nearly 60% from the field to establish a 22-11 lead. Katzneslon, McLaughlin and junior Jack Bates each added a three in the second for the Eagles, who hit seven of their 12 threes in the first half. Baur finished with a team-high 16 points and five rebounds to lead the way for Sharon, who held a 37-25 lead at half and a 55-35 lead going into the fourth quarter. Katznelson added 15 points and eight rebounds, McLaughlin finished with 13 points and five assists, and senior John Baez had eight points, five assists, four rebounds, and two steals. Zach Tagliamonte led OA with a game-high 17 points and five rebounds while senior Drew Baxter and freshman Cole Craffey each had 10 points.

Senior Dillon Benoit scored a pair of goals for the second straight game, senior Ryan Doherty added one, and freshman Matt Tourigney scored his first career goal. The Hornets went a perfect 3-for-3 on the penalty kill, improving to 9-for-9 on the kill in league games this year.

Panther Invitational (Foxboro, King Philip), 10:00 (@ Whitman-Hanson) – King Philip had five finalists and two individual champions to take first place in the Panther Invitational held at Whitman-Hanson. The Warriors had a total of 140.5 points while second place Milton had 131 points. Foxboro had 47 points. Hunter Hastings won all three of his matches by pinfall, including the 195-pound championship with a fall in 1:52 in the championship round. After a bye in the first round, heavyweight Dan Nineve won the semifinal by pin in 1:37 and then took the championship with a pin in 3:24. Sam Debaggis (126), Colby Cloutier (152), and William Conniff (170) each finished second for the Warriors while Lodan Wells (120) took third and Michael Gorman (145) took fourth. Foxboro’s Maxwell Kornbluth (160) and Ryan Addeche (170) finished third while Adam Addeche (120) and Sebastian Zerpa Aguilar (285) finished fourth.
Norton Quad (Mansfield, Taunton) – Taunton senior captain Christian Balmain became just the second wrestler in program history to reach 100 wins and the Tigers went 3-0 on the day at the Norton Quad, beating the host Lancers (50-24), Mansfield (61-15), and Quabbin (72-12). Balmain, who wrestles at 152, earned a forfeit win, a major decision (12-4) over Norton, and a pinfall in 1:20 against Mansfield. Michael Leskoski (106), Xavier Sandoval (138), Ethan Harris (182), Avery Justa (195) also went 3-0 on the day while Ryan Jones (113), Brandon Mendes (126), Anthony Vieira (132), Ben Mandeville (145), John Mandeville (160), Charlie Rabel (170), Peter Ye (220), and Robert Tran (285) each won twice.
St. John’s Prep Super Quad (North Attleboro) – North Attleboro picked up three wins on the day, pinning down victories over Bridgewater-Raynham (42-36), Marblehead/Swampscott (55-24), and Beverly (51-24). Three Rocketeers won all three of their matches with Braxton Ferro (132) and Christopher Galligan (138) each grabbing three pinfalls and Jaad Ismail (170) had two pins and one decision.
