Attleboro, 74 @ Bishop Feehan, 79 – Final – Jake Dunkley led all scorers with 32 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter, and pulled in seven rebounds for the Bombardiers. Kyle Murphy scored 16 points and grabbed 11 boards and Andrew Milliken added 11 points. Attleboro led 74-71, but Feehan scored the game’s final eight points to pull out the win.
Canton, 63 vs. Archbishop Williams, 70 – Final – Canton sophomore Tony Harris scored a career-high 27 points. Freshman Xavier Machuga made his varsity debut and scored 10 points.
North Attleboro, 49 @ Falmouth, 52 – Final – Brent Doherty scored a team-high 22 points while junior Jonny Friberg added 11 points and Tom Reynolds chipped in nine points.
Oliver Ames, 93 @ Abington, 60 – Final – Dylan Mahoney scored a team-high 20 points and was named to the all-tournament team. Carter Evin added 14 points, Jack Spillane had a career-high 12 points, Mike Graziano chipped in with 11 points and Nick Welch had 10 points.

Taunton, 61 @ Attleboro, 64 – Final – A back and forth fourth quarter ended with a big three from Jake Dunkley and a key free throw as the Bombardiers scored their first win over Taunton since Valentine’s Day 2013. Dunkley finished with a game-high 20 points while Kyle Murphy, Andrew Milliken and Lucas Boucicaut each had 12 points. Carlos Borrero led Taunton with 17 points while Jose Mercado added 13 points.
Sharon, 59 @ Canton, 50 – Final
Oliver Ames, 39 @ Foxboro, 47- Final – Jason Procaccini’s 15 points was a game-high as Foxboro grinded to a win to clinch at least a share of the Davenport division title. It marks the program’s first ever Davenport title and first league title since 2003. Charlie Ryan had 12 points for Oliver Ames.
Mansfield, 55 @ Franklin, 51 – Final – Franklin rallied from a 15 point second half deficit to get within two in the final minutes but a big shot from Mansfield’s Matt Ehrlich and key stops sealed the win for the Hornets. Tyler Boulter had a team-high 12 points while Sam Goldberg had 11 points, seven rebounds and three assists. Matt Ehrlich (four rebounds, four assists) and Christian Weber each had nine points, Nick Baskin had six and Max Boen had five points and four assists. Franklin sophomore Connor Peterson scored 21 points and hauled in nine rebounds while freshman Jay Dieterle netted 18 points.
King Philip, 38 @ North Attleboro, 49 – Final – Mario Bresko led the Rocketeers with 12 points.
Stoughton, 53 @ Milford, 59 – Final – Dimitry Torres once again led the way for the Scarlet Hawks, dropping in a game-high 21 points. Zack Tamagni added 13 points while Anthony Arcudi chipped in with 19 points. Dwight Anderson had nine points and 10 rebounds while Kayden Kelley added 10 rebounds. Stoughton sophomore Cam Andrews had a team-high 18 points.
Girls Basketball
Canton, 43 @ Sharon, 67 – Final – Charlotte Ransom scored 19 points and six rebounds for Sharon. The Eagles also got a career-high 18 points from Emma Eberhardt and 16 points and five rebounds from Alyssa Piazza.
Foxboro, 40 @ Oliver Ames, 55 – Final – Niyera Mitchell came off the bench for OA to score 15 points and pull down 17 rebounds, both of which were game highs. Kayla Raymond added 11 points and 10 rebounds and Francesca Calabraro scored 11. Ashley Sampson was the top scorer for Foxboro with 15 points, including 10 in the fourth quarter, and Cassidy Harrison added 12.
Franklin, 38 @ Mansfield, 44 – Final – Meg Hill and Caroline Maher led the way for Mansfield with 12 points apiece. Lauren Rudolph was the top scorer for Franklin with eight points.
North Attleboro, 60 @ King Philip, 35 – Final – Caroline Collard and Ashley Ahern each scored 13 points for the Rocketeers. Riley Dalzell led the Warriors with 13 points.

Canton, 47 @ Oliver Ames, 70 – Final – Carter Evin scored 20 points and hauled in nine rebounds and Nick Welch came off the bench to net 14 points. Tony Harris scored a team-high 14 points for Canton.
Foxboro, 72 @ Stoughton, 55 – Final – Foxboro senior Jason Procaccini led all scorers with a game-high 21 points while Alex DuBrow (13 points) and Mark Clagg (11 points) also scored in double figures. Stoughton’s Jared Maher had 14 points for the Black Knights.
Franklin, 72 @ Taunton, 83 – Final – Quan Roberson scored a career-high 25 points and hauled in eight rebounds to go along with a pair of steals, blocks and assists to lead the Tigers. Jose Mercado added 19 points and seven rebounds, Tommy MacLean had 17 points, five assists and four rebounds, Dom Smith had 13 points, eight rebounds and three assists and Carlos Borrero had seven points, nine rebounds and five assists. Tim Prunier led Franklin with 20 points, four assists and three rebounds, sophomore Paul Mahon finished with 19 points, five rebounds and six steals and freshman Jay Dieterle had 17 points and seven rebounds.
Sharon, 56 @ Milford, 57 – Final – Dimitry Torres hit a layup going across the paint with 4.3 seconds left to put the Scarlet Hawks ahead, then holding off a last second shot from the Eagles. Torres finished with a team-high 19 points while Zack Tamagni notched a double-double with 16 points and 10 rebounds, having hit a half court buzzer beater to tie the game at the end of three. Kayden Kelley had seven points and 10 rebounds and Dwight Anderson added 10 points and seven rebounds for Milford.
Mansfield, 66 @ North Attleboro, 49 – Final – The Hornets held just a two point advantage at halftime and then just six at the end of three quarters but won the final quarter 23-12 to pick up the win. Sam Goldberg was a perfect 5/5 from the field for a game-high 13 points, also grabbing seven rebounds. Max Boen added 12 points and Matt Ehrlich had 10 points for Mansfield. Chad Peterson led North with 12 points while Brent Doherty and Jonny Friberg each added nine points.

Oliver Ames, 58 @ Canton, 29 – Final – Kayla Raymond led the Tigers with 12 points while Hannah Carroll added 11 and Francesca Calabraro had 10 points. Emma Murphy was Canton’s top scorer with 10. The two teams joined together for Play4Kay Pink Night to raise money for breast cancer research.
Stoughton, 38 @ Foxboro, 83 – Final – Cassidy Harrison and Ashley Sampson each scored 18 points for the Warriors, who had five players reach double figures. Hailey Maling added 13 points, Grace Tamulionis scored 12 points and Lily Sykes finished with 10.
Taunton, 30 @ Franklin, 65 – Final – Erin Skidmore paced the Panthers with 15 points. Aubrie Kutil added 12 points and Catherine Gray had 10 for Franklin.

Matt Ehrlich had a team-high 14 points and added four rebounds, Sam Goldberg had 12 points, six rebounds and five assists and Max Boen (four rebounds), Tyler Boulter and Phil Vigeant each had six points for the Hornets. Jake Dunkley had a game-high 15 points for Attleboro, Lucas Boucicaut added 12 points and Kyle Murphy had eight points and 10 rebounds.
Milford, 68 @ Canton, 50 – Final – Dimitry Torres netted a career-high 26 points to spark the Scarlet Hawks to a road win at Canton. Dwight Anderson added 15 points and Josh Andonian chipped in with 10 points for Milford.
Foxboro, 46 @ Sharon, 49 – Final – David Roelke hit a three as time expired to lift Sharon to a key Davenport division win. Roelke had a team-high 12 points while Peter Banks (eight rebounds) and Bryce Smith each had 10 points. Foxboro’s Jason Procaccini had a game-high 18 points and added 11 rebounds and six steals. Alex DuBrow had 13 points and Rob Lowey had seven points and 14 rebounds.
North Attleboro, 57 @ Franklin, 60 – Final – Tim Prunier hit two free throws down the stretch to stretch the Panthers’ lead to three as Franklin outlasted North Attleboro. The Rocketeers trailed by nine at halftime but rallied to get a 45-44 lead heading into the final period. Prunier finished with a team-best 18 points while freshman Jay Dieterle added 13 points and sophomore Connor Peterson had 11 points. North junior Brent Doherty also had 18 points, Kyle McCarthy scored a career-high 13 points in his first start and Mario Bresko added 11 points.
King Philip, 54 @ Taunton, 62 – Final – King Philip led for three quarters but Taunton was able to overcome the deficit and get the win in the final quarter. Senior Carlos Borrero scored all 11 of his points in the second half and senior Jose Mercado finished with a game-high 17 points. Tommy MacLean added 13 points. Sophomore Tom Madden had a team-high 13 points for KP, who also got 10 points from Seth Sullivan and Pharoah David each.
Stoughton, 48 @ Oliver Ames, 70 – Final – Dylan Mahoney had a team-high 15 points while Tim Kelley, Shawn Cardoza and Nick Welch all added 11 points apiece in the Tigers’ big win.

Mansfield, 38 @ Attleboro, 48 – Final – The Bombardiers finished the game with a 9-0 run in the final 4:27 to clinch the win. Sam Pierce led Attleboro with 14 points and 11 rebounds. Sarah Deyo had 13 points and 12 boards and Emily Houle had nine points for the Bombardiers. Mansfield was led by Jen Peel with 11 points and five assists. Meg Hill added nine points, 11 rebounds, and eight blocks.

Canton, 42 @ Sharon, 47 – Final – Sophomore Malik Lorquet made a big splash in his first full varsity game with nine points and 10 rebounds. Junior Adam Banks also scored nine points for the Eagles. Woanyen Mahn and Rishi Jambunathan each scored nine points for Canton.
Foxboro, 54 @ Oliver Ames, 50 – Final – Foxboro built a seven point lead by halftime and held on in the second half. Senior Jason Procaccini led with 18 points with classmate Alex DuBrow chipping in with 17 points. Oliver Ames junior Carter Even had 17 points and seniors Shawn Cardoza and Tim Kelley each had 12 points.

The Panthers, which led by as much as 22, had to stave off a rally from Mansfield over the third and fourth quarters. Franklin sophomore Connor Peterson scored a career-high 23 points and had seven rebounds, Tim Prunier added 15 points and five assists, sophomore Paul Mahon added eight points and six rebounds and Dieterle had six assists to go with five points. Matt Ehrlich had 16 points and five rebounds for Mansfield and Max Boen added 11 points.

King Philip, 53 @ Sharon, 45 – Final – KP rallied from eight down in the fourth quarter behind 18 points from freshman Julia Leroux (nine in the fourth quarter alone). Sam Madden added 12 for the Warriors, who outscored the Eagles 22-7 in the final quarter. Sharon was led by Alyssa Piazza with 14 points and Charlotte Ransom with 12.
Mansfield, 48 @ Oliver Ames, 32 – Final – Caroline Maher led the way for the Hornets with 16 points in a game between the top two teams in this week’s girls basketball Hock 5. Meg Hill added eight points and nine rebounds and Jen Peel had eight points and eight assists for Mansfield.
Attleboro, 54 @ Milford, 26 – Final – The Bombardiers were without star forward Sarah Deyo but pulled out the win on the road led by 18 points and 12 rebounds from sophomore Sam Pierce. Emma Vlashi added 12 points for Attleboro in just her second game back from injury and Fatima McDonald chipped in with eight steals.
Taunton, 52 @ Stoughton, 54 – Final – Stoughton seniors Jess Greer and Alecia Quinones each scored a team-high 18 points to lead the Black Knights to a close win. Taunton senior Jordan Wade had 16 points while Lily Patneaude and Alyssa Gibson each added 12 points for the Tigers.

Rocketeers Edge Attleboro in Defensive Struggle

NORTH ATTLEBORO, Mass. – With 2:17 remaining and a three-point lead, North Attleboro called timeout to avoid a turnover on the near sideline. Saving that possession helped win Friday night’s game for the Rocketeers.
The ball swung around the perimeter against an Attleboro defense that knew it needed to make a stop. Eventually, the ball was entered into the right post to Jonny Friberg who threw a diagonal skip pass out of a triple team back out to the three-point line to senior Ridge Olsen. The forward had only scored four points all game, but with the shot clock nearly expired he buried a dagger three.
“It was with one second on the shot clock,” said Attleboro coach Mark Houle, “so we defended it well, we had good rotations but they went from inside out and he had a good look.”
“You have to make your shots and that was a big one.”
The shot turned out to be the game-winner. Attleboro clawed its way back to within one but a desperation heave came a split second after the buzzer (and was well off target) allowing North to walk away with a 43-42 victory in the first game of a doubleheader at the Pickering Gym.
“I thought we had some runs,” said North coach Sean Mulkerrins about the struggles for his team offensively. “We tried to pressure them and turn them over a little bit and that helped a little…but you’re not going to win many games in the Hock with 43.”
The game was mostly a battle between the two teams’ offensive stars. Jake Dunkley got off to a great start for the Bombardiers with eight of his team-high 18 coming in the first quarter, as Attleboro jumped out to an early 14-6 lead.
“He’s definitely an offensive threat for us,” said Houle of Dunkley. “We just need to find some complementary pieces to that and we’re going to be in every game it’s a matter of just finding some consistency with the other players.”
In the second quarter, North’s star guard came alive. Brent Doherty scored seven in the second helping North get back within a single point at halftime (18-17). He then added eight points in the third quarter on his way to a game-high 20.
“It’s almost like you forget to compliment him because he’s become a constant for us,” said Mulkerrins of Doherty. “We’re trying to get him free looks and use him to get other guys looks, but I really appreciate what he’s been doing for us.”
The problem for both teams was finding consistent scoring. There would be runs, such as Doherty scoring a fastbreak layup and then coming right back down and burying a three, but both teams struggled to knock down shots on a regular basis.
The Bombardiers took advantage of their size underneath to dominate the boards. Kyle Murphy had four points and 13 rebounds, Nate Douglas had eight points and nine rebounds and Dunkley added nine boards as well, but Attleboro was well below 50 percent on shots in the paint.
“You got to finish the shots,” said Houle. “We finish the shots and it’s a different story; they did and we didn’t. It was certainly a game that we had a great opportunity to win.”
Mulkerrins added, “it’s not usually the first shot that we were worried too too much about, it was the second shot. To hold them to 42 was great but we can’t seem to get out of our own way on offense.”
The Rocketeers found a complement to Doherty in the third quarter by going inside to Olsen. He showed off his post moves to finish over Murphy on the right block and then spun past his man for a lefty finish that gave North a 29-28 lead, its first since the first quarter. Doherty closed the third with a big three plus the foul (he would miss the free throw) that made it 32-28 heading to the fourth.
Dunkley twice cut the lead to one in the fourth, but then Olsen stepped into his three and seemed to have done enough to secure North the win.
“First that spin to the baseline with the lefthand finish was enormous,” said Mulkerrins about Olsen’s late contributions. “The three is something we talk about with him and [Friberg] when it’s appropriate and it was. That’s two straight seasons when one of our big guys hits a three from the left side.”
Dunkley battled for an offensive rebound putback that got Attleboro within four and then after Doherty missed the front end of a one-and-one, the Bombardiers had an inbounds play under their own basket. With 7.2 left on the clock, Andrew Milliken buried a corner three and suddenly the lead was just one.
“They came out in zone and we were able to make the good read and get the quick timeout,” said Houle.
Attleboro also got a pair of missed free throws from North, but with four seconds left off the rebound was unable to get a shot off in time.
Houle continued, “We were looking for something special at the end. We had the momentum there, so anything we could have done to get that one extra possession would have been nice.”
Attleboro (2-6, 1-4) will look to bounce back with the visit of Milford on Tuesday, while North Attleboro (2-3, 2-2) will host Canton.

ATTLEBORO
2014-2015 Record: 3-19
2014-2015 Finish: Missed playoffs
Coach: Mark Houle
After winning just three games a season ago, the Bombardiers will be looking to make a push back to the postseason in 2015-2016. One big reason that Big Blue has high hopes for this season is a healthy Kyle Murphy. The 6’3 senior missed over half the season last year with an injury but looks primed to be a leader for the Bombardiers this season. When he’s on the court, Attleboro will have the rebounding advantage and he’s able to convert in the paint to help the offense.
Head coach Mark Houle will also have junior Andrew Milliken back this season, who has the ability to attack the rim and find success at the hoop. Houle said the 6’2 forward has improved his shooting range, which will help Attleboro spread the floor some. Jake Dunkley is another shooter that will help Attleboro while point guard Lucas Boucicaut is back with an improved skill set. Along with Milliken and Murphy, Houle has 6’3 forward Berlyns Abraham as another presence in the paint.
“We have been working hard and getting better everyday,” Houle said. “Our team is still developing but I really like how hard we are playing throughout each practice. Our senior leadership has been very good. I like our confidence in each other and overall team chemistry.”
FRANKLIN
2014-2015 Record: 18-6
2014-2015 Finish: Reached D1 Central Semifinal

The Panthers were close to returning to the D1 Central Sectional Final last year but with four of the starters from that team graduated, there will be plenty of minutes to be had this season. Senior point guard Tim Prunier, who is one of the top players in the entire league, is the lone starter returning while forward Josh Macchi, who saw got some experience coming off the bench last year is also back.
But just because names like Marcus Giese, Dylan Reno, Markus Bohmiller and Shawn Hanley are gone doesn’t mean the Panthers won’t be competitive this year. In fact, Franklin will likely be in the thick of the Kelley-Rex division race. There will be plenty of new faces but they almost all have good size and can shoot the ball, two traits that will make Franklin a tough opponent. And unsurprisingly, the Panthers will likely be one of the top defensive teams.
“This is a team that only needs to focus on getting better each day,” head coach CJ Neely said. “Our goals are day to day improvement and we will let the results take care of themselves. We will pride ourselves on strong defense and tremendous effort and teamwork. Offensively, we have a lot of guys who are capable of playing well and as soon as we trust each other, make the extra pass and consistently compete together on both sides of the floor, I think we can have a good season. I have been very impressed with the team’s willingness to be coachable and get better each day. It should be a fun year.”
KING PHILIP
2014-2015 Record: 11-10
2014-2015 Finish: Reached D1 South Preliminary Round
Coach: Matt Coute
In the first year with Matt Coute at the helm, the Warriors made it back to the postseason after a two year hiatus. Now Coute will have a different looking squad with better outside shooting and a reliance on sound defense.
Senior Ben Smith and juniors Noah Goodwin and Will Weir will be the most experienced players for a young King Philip team. The Warriors know they could play the underdog role a bit more this season and that’s something they’re relishing. And while the Warriors might not have a ton of experience, there is still plenty of talent amongst the younger players.
Freshman Kyle Layman will look to make an immediate impact while sophomore transfer Pharaoh Davis and sophomore Tom Madden could see plenty of minutes this season.
“So far in the young season, I have been excited to come to practice and work with this young group everyday,” Coute said. “Despite the inexperience, they are showing signs of really coming together as a group. Our young guys are stepping up, our older guys are showing great leadership on and off the court, and our new additions will help us greatly leading forward. I feel as though the kids believe they have something to prove to people and they are coming to practice everyday with the right focus. We just need to continue to stay the course, especially with so many new pieces.”
MANSFIELD
2014-2015 Record: 23-3
2014-2015 Finish: Reached D1 South Sectional Final
Coach: Mike Vaughan
Over each of the past couple of seasons, the Hornets have had to deal with lots of turnover, including losing league MVPs, many all stars and plenty of other great players. Yet still, the Hornets have reached the D1 State Final, the D1 South Semifinal and the D1 South Finals in the last three years.
That run will be tested this year as once again Mansfield graduated a ton of talent, including Hockomock League MVP Ryan Boulter and HockomockSports.com Player of the Year Michael Boen. But at the same time, head coach Mike Vaughan will be returning plenty of players that have a good amount of varsity experience.
Senior Nick Baskin and junior Math Ehrlich are both starting their third varsity season and along with seniors Kyle Swansburg and John Gouvalaris will be relied on to be the leaders for the Hornets this season.
Meanwhile, players like juniors Christian Weber, Sam Goldberg, Phil Vigeant and Max Boen all saw plenty of minutes of the past season and will try to fit into the rotation.
“Trying to replace guys like Boen and Boulter will be difficult, but I think we will do it by committee,” Vaughan said. “This is one of the deeper teams I have had where every guy can play and does things well. We will see different guys lead us each night.
“I’m expecting big things out of the three seniors who have waited for this to be their time, and Ehrlich, Goldberg, Boen, Vigeant and Weber are all underclassman with varsity experience who are ready to write their own two year chapter in the history books.”
NORTH ATTLEBORO
2014-2015 Record: 5-15
2014-2015 Finish: Missed playoffs

Expectations are high in Big Red country and for good reason. The Rocketeers have nearly everyone back from last year’s team and despite that team only winning five games, they were one of the few teams that were better than their record.
Junior Brent Doherty had a breakout campaign during his second season on varsity last year and could be one of the top players in the entire league this season. Doherty, a point guard, is mighty quick and despite only being 5’9, is able to slice through defenses to get to the rim. Sophomore Chad Peterson, a strong player who can shoot from the perimeter, will be looking to follow up on a strong rookie campaign and senior Kyle Gaumond that has good range on his shot and will be one of the Rocketeers top defenders this season.
On top of that, senior Ridge Olsen is one of the most experienced players in the league while Thomas Reynolds, Jonny Friberg and Kyle McCarthy all saw good minutes last year.
“We’re very excited about the upcoming season,” head coach Sean Mulkerrins said. “With a large amount of talented varsity players returning, we have high expectations for a tournament birth. We expect to compete each night in the Hockomock League for victories.”
TAUNTON
2014-2015 Record: 19-5
2014-2015 Finish: Reached D1 South Sectional Semifinal
Coach: Charlie Dacey
After making it to the D1 South Sectional Semifinal last season, the Tigers will be looking to make another postseason run this year. Senior Jose Mercado and junior Tommy MacLean, two of Taunton’s players last season, are back to run things for head coach Charlie Dacey this season.
The biggest question will be who fills the void left by Corey Green’s graduation. Mercado showed last season he can shoot as well as be a successful player in the post, both offensively and defensively. MacLean has improved each of the past two seasons and could make a big jump with more responsibility in his junior year.
Taunton will rely on players like Quandarius Roberson, who transferred in back from prep school, Carlos Borrero, Lens Esquil and other younger players to complement Mercado and MacLean. With the athletes that Taunton has, expect the Tigers to get out and run.
“We will be small but quick,” Dacey said. “Tempo is the buzz word this year. We have people who can play fast so that’s what we will try to do. If we can put some underclassmen around [Mercado and MacLean] we could be in the hunt again.”
