Fellow senior Fallon Pfeifer had a pair of goals and senior Sabrina Robbins scored one for Sharon, while sophomore Marika Fillon added one as well.

Foxboro, 2 @ Stoughton, 0 – Final – Foxboro scored a pair of goals in the first half and earned its eighth shutout of the season with a win at Stoughton. Shane VandenBoom scored a goal and had an assist to pace the Warriors. Ryan Kelley also scored while junior Matt Garcia had an assist.
Oliver Ames, 1 @ King Philip, 1 – Final – Oliver Ames scored just over midway through the first half but King Philip equalized early in the second half as the teams each took a point. Senior James Gillespie finished off a long throw from Chris Lawrence to put OA head 1-0 in the 22nd minutes. King Philip tied it in the 48th minute when Connor Mullins scored on an assist from Anthony Bozza.
Sharon, 1 @ North Attleboro, 3 – Final – North Attleboro worked its way to a 2-0 lead by halftime and added a late insurance goal to pick up two points against visiting Sharon. Senior Gabe Pinhancos intercepted a pass and opened the scoring in the 16th minute for the Rocketeers. Then just before half, sophomore Dylan Corrigan played junior Joe Hilf in behind the defense and Hilf scored to make it 2-0. Sharon cut the deficit to one in the 62nd minute when sophomore Michael Baur converted a free kick from just outside the area. But North iced the game when Pinhancos drew a penalty kick and Hilf converted in the 66th minute.
Girls Soccer
Mansfield, 5 @ Attleboro, 0 – Final – Mansfield juniors Steph Kemp and Sydney Mulkern each scored a pair of goals while Cassidy McMahon also registered two points with a goal and assist as the Hornets rolled on the road. Allie Reef, Amanda Mangano, Emma Oldow and Kemp each finished with one assist.
Stoughton, 0 @ Foxboro, 6 – Final – Foxboro’s offense netted four goals in the second half to break the game open, earn two points, and qualify for the state tournament. Junior Mackenzi Fraser and sophomore Lizzy Davis each scored two goals in the win while senior Lily Sykes finished with two assists. Kendra Wentling converted a penalty kick and Katelyn Mollica also found the back of the net in the Warriors’ win.
Taunton, 0 @ Franklin, 1 – Final – Anna Balkus scored the game’s only goal midway through the second half to give the Panthers a narrow win and a sweep of the season series. Grace Pimenta made 13 saves in defeat for the Tigers.
King Philip, 3 @ Oliver Ames, 0 – Final – King Philip scored once in the first half and added two goals in the second half to avenge its lone loss of the season with a win at OA. Ally Stanton opened the scoring in the 36th minute, one-timing a cross from Makayla Griffin. Griffin grabbed her second assist in the 69th minute when she picked out sophomore Avery Snead for a header. Snead then iced the game with her second goal four minutes later, heading in a corner from Emma Cocoran. OA coach Britt Sellmayer said that Sophia Cox and Regan Benton played well for the Tigers.
North Attleboro, 2 @ Sharon, 1 – Final – Sharon’s Fallon Pfeifer put the Eagles ahead but North Attleboro scored once in each half to earn the win. Emma Gaulin tied the game in the first half, converting a feed from MacKenzie Rosenberg. North’s Ashlyn Gaulin netted the game-winning off a corner kick in the second half for the game-winner.

Attleboro, 161 vs. Dighton-Rehoboth, 169 – Final – Attleboro moved within one win of qualifying for the state tournament with a non-league win over visiting Dighton-Rehoboth. Kyle DelSignore earned match medalist honors for the second straight match, firing a 39 for the Bombardiers. Ethan Johnson carded a 40 while Jack Handy and Brian Houle each shot 41 for Attleboro.
North Attleboro, 158 @ Canton, 148 – Final – Canton’s Joey Vaughan fired a low-round of 35, earning medalist honors to lead the Bulldogs over North Attleboro. The win sets up a showdown with Oliver Ames for a battle of unbeatens. Tommy Dimock and Thomas Singleton each shot 37 for Canton while Dylan Kane carded a round of 37 to lead the Rocketeers.

Oliver Ames, 165 @ Taunton, 178 – Final – Oliver Ames picked up a win over Taunton to set up a showdown of undefeated teams on Wednesday when the Tigers host Canton. Tate Hadges earned medalist honors, carding a low-round of 39. Ryan McGarry shot 40 for the Tigers, Nolan Donze carded a round of 41 and sophomore Kyle Gramer fired a 45.

Cullin Anastasia scored what proved to be the game-winner with a penalty kick in the second half and then added an insurance goal on an assist from Sam Hyland. Mansfield goalie Nick Ferraz made 11 saves in the win.
Milford, 1 @ North Attleboro, 3 – Final – North Attleboro scored all three of its goals in the second half to pick up a key division win over Milford. Big Red went up 1-0 when Gabe Pinhancos scored just under eight minutes into the second half, running onto a flick from junior Joe Hilf and converting. Pinhancos made it 2-0 just three minutes later, heading in a cross from Zach Matracia. Milford cut the deficit in half in the 62nd minute when Anthony Salvador volleyed in a throw from Joey Madden. Nate Burns put the game away with his first career goal, scoring off a flick from Connor MacIver.
Oliver Ames, 3 @ Taunton, 1 – Final – Oliver Ames senior Matt Alvarado collected his third and fourth goals of the season, helping OA pick up two points on the road. Michael Nikiciuk netted his fourth goal of the season as well. Nathaniel Cardoza, Colin Evin and Cam Valla each had an assist in the win.
Sharon, 4 @ Stoughton, 0 – Final – Sharon had four different goal scorers in the win on the road. Tyler Hippler, Andrew Reyes-Jones, Tyler Goldstein and Michael Baur each found the back of the net for the Eagles.
Girls Soccer
Attleboro, 1 @ Franklin, 5 – Final – Franklin scored four times in the opening half hour to break the game wide open. Emily Mastaj, Halle Atkinson, Olivia Dellorco, and Sarah Yelle scored the goals for the Panthers before halftime and Molly Duncan added a fifth with five minutes left to play. Julia Hayes netted the lone goal for Attleboro. Breanna Atwood made five saves for the Panthers and Ashley Macia made five for the Bombardiers.
Canton, 1 @ Foxboro, 2 – Final – Katelyn Mollica scored what turned out to be the game-winner with 12 minutes remaining to extend Foxboro’s win streak to five games. Shaina Abbott had the opening goal on a volley from a Mackenzie Fraser assist before Mollica doubled the lead. Canton cut the lead to one with a late goal, but the Warriors held on for the win. Jamie DeVellis made eight saves to earn the win in goal.
King Philip, 2 @ Mansfield, 1 – Final – Avery Snead scored one and set up the other to lift KP to a win over the defending Kelley-Rex champs and put the Warriors into a tie atop the standings. Chloe Layne opened the scoring off a Snead assist in the first half, firing a low shot into the corner. Kerina Geminiani equalized for the Hornets with a 25-yard free kick that sent the game into halftime 1-1. Snead scored the game-winner with 11 minutes remaining, sending her shot just past the outstretched arms of the Mansfield keeper. KP coach Gary Pichel credited his “great defensive line” for helping the Warriors earn the two points.
North Attleboro, 3 @ Milford, 0 – Final – North Attleboro scored all three of its goals inside the first half hour of the match and played a strong defensive game to earn the shutout. Ashlyn Gaulin opened the scoring in the 15th minute, converting a feed from Haley Guertin to make it 1-0. Guertin then doubled the lead off an assist from Kayla Pasquel before Emma Gaulin made it 3-0 in the 30th minute, with Leah Jette getting the assist. Emma Noreck made six saves for North to earn the shutout. Milford head coach Jay Mastaj said Briana Braza played well defensively for the Scarlet Hawks.
Taunton, 1 @ Oliver Ames, 2 – Final – OA scored a pair of second half goals to come back from a goal down and pull out the win. Erin Holmberg scored off a through ball from Anna Tempestoso in the first minute after the break and Gabrielle McLaughlin netted the winner on an assist from Maeve Hogan. Samantha Tichelaar scored the lone goal of the game for Taunton in the opening minute. Alex Wapenski had the assist for Taunton.
Stoughton, 2 @ Sharon, 6 – Final – Ally Filipkowski and Fallon Pfeifer both scored hat tricks for the Eagles and Filipkowski added an assist as well. Bridget McManus and Marika Fillon also had assists for Sharon. Stoughton got goals from Nicole Weir (off a cross from Brigid Pearl) and Mia Greene.

Foxboro, 173 @ Stoughton, 189 – Final – Foxboro’s Dylan Quinn earned match medalist honors, carding a low-round of 41 for the Warriors. Brendan Campbell shot a team-low round of 42 for the Black Knights.
Attleboro, 197 @ North Attleboro, 198 – Final (5 cards) – It came down to a fifth card tiebreaker after rivals Attleboro and North Attleboro were knotted at 154. Kyle DelSignore led the Bombardiers with a par round of 35 while Corey McKenna carded a 38. Dylan Kane led North Attleboro, carding a 37 at the middle course of Heather Hill.
Milford, 165 @ Canton, 156 – Final – Canton’s Jack Goyetch carded a round of 37 to earn match medalist honors and help the Bulldogs pick up another key division win. Joey Vaughan finished with a 38 and Bubba McNeice chipped in with a round of 40. Zach Tammaro and Andrew Fauerbach each shot 39 for the Scarlet Hawks.
Sharon, 190 @ Mansfield, 171 – Final – Freshman Nathan Morreale carded a low-round of 41 while classmate Joseph Gormley shot a 42 to help the Hornets fend off visiting Sharon. Senior Brett Kessler, junior Jake DiSangro and freshman Brian See each carded a 44 for Mansfield.

MILFORD, Mass. – The King Philip boys’ team won its second straight Hockomock Swimming Championship title on Friday night and on Saturday the girls made it a school double, adding to their Kelley-Rex division title with the team championship at the league meet.
KP finished with 317 points, pulling away from Franklin (285 points) and Taunton (282 points) with a second place finish in the final event of the meet, the 400-yard free relay. North Attleboro, the Davenport division champion, and Oliver Ames tied for fourth place with 202 points apiece and Attleboro took sixth on 199.
“Pretty fantastic weekend,” said first-year KP coach Jack Pettine. “The difference between us and the other teams was having a lot of those numbers to take a lot of top placings, in our relays especially.”
He added, “We came into this meet with our times and our seedings for our relays that we knew who we would put in each event. Other teams may have had the times but didn’t have the ability to space out their swimmers the way we could.”
Relays were the key to the boys’ title the night before and it proved crucial for the girls as well. The team of Callie Sullivan, Fahra Whachard, Sam Nasson, and Sam DeWitt took second in the 200-yard medley relay to start the day and the Warriors grabbed the lead for good when Catherine DiGiacomo, Morgan Sachleben, Jessica Sullivan and Whichard won the 200 free relay in a time of 1:49.07.
DeWitt, Nasson, DiGiacomo, and Callie Sullivan took second behind OA in the closing race, the 400 free relay, but it earned the points that sealed the title.
“We told our girls to do the best swim they could have and make sure it counted in the pool,” said Pettine about the message ahead of that final relay. “Those girls had a great race and gave us the times we were looking for heading into the postseason.”
The Tigers jumped from sixth into a tie for fourth with the win in the final relay. Mia Esterman, Aprille Gangi, Makayla Paquin, and Morgan O’Hara came from behind to edge the KP team by a full second. It was the third first place finish of the day for O’Hara, who made quite a splash in her first league meet, also winning the 100 free and the 100 backstroke.
Other swimmers with multiple first place finishes included Attleboro’s Jackie Lynch-Bartek, who won as part of the 200 medley relay and took first in the 200 breaststroke, and Franklin junior Ashley Loomis, who became a three-time Hock champion in both the 200 free and 500 free. Loomis, who is getting looks from Ivy League programs, is also the defending state champion in both events.
“She has a true competitor’s heart,” said Franklin coach Jess Pridham. “She trains like a monster. She trains five or six hours a day and she always has a smile on her face and she always wants to achieve the goals that she sets for herself. She puts her plan in and everything falls into place for her.”
Pridham was asked if that type of work ethic can rub off on teammates. She replied, “The other girls on our team see how skilled, how talented, and how fast she is, but they also see that she puts in the time and the effort. They know the work that she puts in and some them do emulate that.”
One of the more interesting subplots to the season was the success of the Taunton girls’ program under first-year coach Pat King, who volunteered to take over the program when the original coach stepped down just two weeks before the start of the season. The Tigers finished second in the Kelley-Rex and then took third at Saturday’s championship meet, which is their highest finish since joining the league.
“I’ve coached many years, just never coached swimming before,” said King with a chuckle. “They said what do you think? Of course, I checked with my senior daughter (Jennie King) first and asked if it was okay because I didn’t want to screw up her senior year. She said, go ahead, go for it.
“Luckily, I’ve had a bunch of great kids. It was a lot of fun.”
When King was asked what made the Tigers so successful this season, he quipped, “The coach!” He added, “The seniors got a little bit faster from club and maturing physically…and with (eighth grader) Mia [Sinkiewicz] and my daughter and others, it was purely a team effort.”
Like O’Hara, Sinkiewicz marked her Hockomock Championships debut with a first place finish, claiming the top time in the 200 IM. She also finished second in the 100 backstroke (to O’Hara) and was on two relay teams that had top six times.
The day (and the weekend) belonged to King Philip and Pettine admitted that the girls came into Saturday wanting to make sure that the boys’ team did not get all the bragging rights.
He said, “Definitely a little bit of pressure. The boys knocked it out of the park last night. We came in real confident for the girls, but it also helped knowing that the boys pulled it off too.”
