Attleboro, 53 vs. Abington, 41 – Final – Attleboro scored 20 points in the second quarter to open up a nine-point lead at halftime and then held the Green Wave to just 16 points after the break to pick up a non-league win. Lily Routhier scored eight of her 10 points in the first quarter to help Attleboro be tied at 14 apiece after one. In the second, Kayla Goldrick, Vanessa Ellis, and Rylie Camacho each scored six points to help the Bombardiers take the lead. Camacho returned from injury this week and she buried a pair from beyond the arc to give Attleboro a spark. Goldrick and Ellis each finished with 10 points and Avery James added six points in the win.

King Philip, 4 @ Oliver Ames, 4 – Final – Oliver Ames rallied from a two-goal deficit to take its first lead in the third period but King Philip scored the equalizer with under five minutes to play as the teams settled for a point apiece after a scoreless overtime period. KP jumped out to a lead less than two minutes into the game when Rowan Boulger got on the end of a pass from James Boldy, but it took OA less than two minutes to respond as Daniel Paul got his first of the game with Landon Grothe recording the assist. KP lit the lamp twice in the final five minutes of the first period, first off a wrist shot from Evan Trujillo on the power play at 4:27, and then on a short-handed goal from Boldy with just 4.1 seconds left in the period. The Tigers wasted little time cutting into that deficit in the second period as Paul converted a breakaway chance just 92 seconds into the period to make it 3-2. Oliver Ames had another strong start to the third as a rebound off a shot from Jack Perron was buried by Jack Corey at 10:24 to make it 3-3. Less than two minutes later, sophomore Patrick DeLoughrey was in the right spot at the right time to tap the puck into an open net at 8:56 for OA’s first lead, 4-3. Boldy grabbed his second goal of the game on a wrist shot from the left side with 4:04 left. In the overtime period, KP’s Cam Lehan-Allen nearly had the game-winner in the final seconds but his shot hit the post and stayed out.

North Attleboro, 2 @ Mansfield, 2 – Final – Mansfield jumped out to a two-goal lead but North rallied to pull even, and the game finished level even after a five minute overtime period. Declan Foley and Thomas Gormley each scored once for the Hornets.

Stoughton/Brockton vs. North Quincy – Postponed to TBD.

Canton, 42 @ Stoughton, 32 – Final – Julian Prentice earned a pin at heavyweight, clinching the win for the Bulldogs in the final league dual meet of the season. Also earning pins for Canton were Declan Monahan, Zach Xayvethy, and Ruairi Ritson.

Anthony Vieira, Ben Mandeville, Gabe Leskoski, Will Buffington, Ethan Harris, Elijah Prophete, Logan Frank, Johnnie Mainer-Smith, Michael Leskoski, Ryan Jones, and Brian Haen each won for the Tigers.

Milford Pins Down Win at Taunton and Three-peat

TAUNTON, Mass. – With five matches left to go in Wednesday night’s dual meet at the Rabouin Field House, Milford led by 20 points and the Hawks seemed ready to cruise to the win. Taunton was heading into the strength of its lineup, but the Tigers needed to not only win those matches but bring in maximum points in each one to have a shot at winning the meet.

Four pins later and Taunton was in the lead 39-35. Luke Donis stepped onto the mat for the final match of the night, at 160, knowing that simply winning his bout wouldn’t be enough to keep Milford’s unbeaten season alive. The sophomore got a quick takedown, but gave a point back. With 33 seconds left in the first period, Donis got the upper hand, got his opponent on his back, and heard the ref slap the mat for a meet-winning pin.

Milford pulled out the 41-39 victory, securing a perfect league campaign and a third straight outright Kelley-Rex division title.

“It’s always a good match, Milford coach PJ Boccia said about competing in the Hockomock League. “You never have an easy Wednesday match. To win the title outright, it’s great for these kids. They’ve put in the work. My juniors and seniors have been in the youth program all the way through, so for them to work together and that was a true team win there.”

The Hawks have faced some of the top programs in the state this season, but Boccia knew that Taunton was going to be the most difficult matchup that the Hawks had seen so far.

“I was a little more nervous,” Boccia admitted. “I know they’re having a great year and the way that the matchups fell I knew it was going to be a close one. We wrestled Shawsheen and Minnechaug and Lowell, and Taunton gave us the closest [meet] so far.”

Taunton was denied at least a share of its first wrestling title, but for head coach Adilson Galvao being in the race to win the Kelley-Rex crown for the second year in a row was a sign of the progress that the Tigers have made as a program.

“We’ve gone from zero wins and maybe 30 losses,” Galvao joked, “to always being in the title hunt in the Hockomock. For years we always pushed that you have to work in the offseason.” When asked if he thought there was a turning point on Wednesday, he added, “It was kind of how we planned it. We knew it was going to be close.”

The meet started at 170 and the Tigers made a lineup adjustment that helped put them in front early. Sean Donovan put the Hawks up first with a dominating 17-2 win, which he led almost from the first whistle. Taunton answered back with Elijah Prophete taking over at 182 and earning a second-round pin.

Ethan Harris, who normally wrestles at 182, was moved to 195 to face Milford’s Matt Donis. Harris led 2-0 after one and had a 5-0 lead in the second before an escape and takedown by Donis cut into the lead. A reversal with just eight seconds left in the period extended Harris’ lead to 7-3 heading to the third. Both wrestlers had an escape and takedown in the third and Taunton grabbed the three points.

Boccia said, “Our 195 has been on a tear and he wrestled him great, that’s one of their best wrestlers, and it’s Matt’s first year in the varsity lineup. Taunton winning at 182 and 195 was a win for them, a good decision on his part. Other than that it kind of went right around where we thought it would be.”

At 220, Logan Frank controlled his match from the outset, but then a flurry of moves ended in his earning a pin with just four ticks remaining in the second period.

Taunton was in front 15-5, but it was Milford’s turn to enter a strong portion of its lineup. Nebraska-commit Hampton Kaye-Kuter needed only 31 seconds to earn a pin at 285. At 106, Derek Marcolino continued the momentum when he got a pin with 11 seconds left in the second period, putting the Hawks up 17-15.

Milford’s roll continued at 113, as Aidan Baum got a pin a minute into the second. Robby Lyons made it four straight pins for the Hawks right at the end of the opening period of his match at 120. It quickly became five straight pins and a 35-15 lead when Mike Boulanger got a pin at 126 less than a minute into the match.

Now it was the Tigers who needed a spark, but they were about to bring some of their toughest wrestlers to the mat to try and produce a comeback.

At 132, Xavier Sandoval continued his impressive season with a pin 1:09 into the match. Anthony Vieira came out intent to do the same at 138, leading 7-0 after the first period, but it took another 1:40 before he finally ended his match and secured the six points. Ben Mandeville followed by pinning his opponent with 20 seconds left in the first period at 145.

The Tigers trailed just 35-33 with two matches remaining. John Mandeville stepped onto the mat with the mindset of not settling for three points. He came close to getting a pin at several points in the first, but had to wait with a 9-0 lead. A quick takedown in the second, turned into a pin that gave Taunton the four-point edge.

Galvao explained, “The kids that got all those pins in row, that’s just experience. We kind of knew that was our strongest part of the lineup, so that just came down to experience.”

It was a dual meet that didn’t seem to have a turning point. Most of the favorites did exactly what was expected of them and got the max points. Donis was no exception at 160, as he sealed the win for the Hawks by earning the team’s sixth pin of the night.

With Taunton producing teams capable of winning titles, Milford turning into a perennial power, Sharon winning the Davenport, and the traditional powers like Foxboro, North Attleboro, and Franklin, Galvao praised the depth of the league for preparing teams to meet tough challenges.

“Last year we had four or five teams winning sectional titles,” he said, “and I feel like every team we’ve wrestled in the Hock, whether we think they’re having a down year, a down year is still a good year for them. It helps our team get ready for the state tournament.

Milford (18-0) will host a tri-meet with Algonquin and Hopkinton on Saturday. Taunton (12-2) will travel to Sandwich for a quad meet this weekend before closing out league play with a visit from North Attleboro.

Attleboro, 10 vs. Tri-County, 4 – Final – Attleboro exploded for six goals in a scoring-filled second period and went on to pick up a win over Tri-County. The Bombardiers scored less than three minutes into the game and twice just seconds apart late in the period to establish a 3-0 lead. The two teams combined for nine goals in the second period, including four in a row from Attleboro with under seven minutes to go. Michael Lachance paced the offense with a hat trick while Antonio Mancini, Nathan Conroy, and Jack Moran scored their first career goals.

Foxboro, 4 @ Blue Hills, 2 – Final

Franklin, 7 @ King Philip, 0 – Final – Franklin scored a pair of goals within the first five minutes of the contest and erupted for five goals in the second period to skate away with a big non-league win over King Philip. Dan Daley put the visitors ahead just 68 seconds into the game, and Ryan Sicchio doubled the lead with 10:03 to play in the first. Sicchio scored a minute into the second and completed his hat trick before four minutes expired in the second. Anthony Lampasona, Vinnie Pasquarosa, and Dylan McEvoy each added a goal in the second.

Mansfield vs. Warwick Vets (R.I.), 7:00

Oliver Ames, 3 vs. Rockland, 1 – Final – Oliver Ames jumped out to a two-goal lead in the first period and tacked on a key insurance goal in the third to hand head coach Jimmy Tierney his first career win. Dan Paul opened the scoring for the Tigers off of an assist from Jack Corey, and sophomore Shaun Teehan doubled OA’s advantage by finishing off an assist from Jack Perron. After Rockland cut the deficit in half in the second, Perron (from Landon Grothe and Sean McCarthy) iced the game with a third period goal.

Stoughton/Brockton, 3 vs. Dartmouth, 4 – Final – Charlie Caputo, Colby Strunk and Brendan Twohig each scored once but the Black Knights fell at home to Dartmouth.

Taunton, 5 @ Apponequet, 2 – Final – Taunton senior Colton Scheralis continued his strong start to the season, finding the back of the net four times to pace the Tigers to a win over Apponequet. Connor McGrath also scored while Dylan McCaughey, Conner Goranson, Travis Cashman, Breighdyn Simmons, and Brady Gomes all recorded assists. Cam Tomaszycki made 16 saves in the win.








Girls Hockey
Canton, 3 @ Franklin, 2 – Final (OT) – Click here for a photo gallery of this game. – Freshman Kayleigh Koen scored the game-winning goal on the power play to give Canton a thrilling 3-2 overtime win on the road at Franklin. The Bulldogs twice took the lead, first in the final minute of the first period and then again with under six minutes to play in the game. But Franklin had an answer each time in regulation, tying the game at 1-1 less than two minutes into the third and then with just under two minutes to play to force overtime. Ellie Bohane gave Canton the lead with 47.8 seconds left in the first period, slamming home a rebound after a good save from Franklin goalie Izzy Brown. After a scoreless second period, Franklin found the equalizer early in the third. Shaw Downing ripped a wrist shot through traffic that took a deflection off a stick and in to make it 1-1 with 13:18 left. Canton cashed in on a 5-on-3 power play late in the third as Izzy Cusack redirected a low shot from Maya Battista to give the Bulldogs a 2-1 lead with 5:40 to play. The Panthers answered again as Downing kept the play alive, Molly Hurley tossed the puck in front and Julia Flynn buried it to make it 2-2 with 1:44 left. After a penalty gave Canton an offensive zone face off, Audrey Koen won it back to Battista, who slid it across to Kayleigh Koen and she buried his wrister for the win.

Hockomock Stars, 4 @ King Philip, 8 – Final – Nicole McDonald, Kelly Holmes, and freshman Katie McGann each scored twice to lead the Warriors to a league win. Eighth grader Ella Morgan and freshman Lydia Maxwell also found the back of the net for KP, each scoring the first goals of their varsity careers. Holmes added three assists and eighth grader Calleigh Brady had a pair of helpers, while Maxwell, Morgan, and Mara Boldy each assisted on one goal. Mallory Johnston and Haley Bright combined for 21 saves in the win.

Stoughton/Sharon, 1 @ Newton North/Newton South, 8 – Final – Stoughton’s Ava Buckley scored the lone goal for the Black Knights. Sharon eighth grader Sarah Scappaticci starred in net, making 56 saves in the loss.




Wrestling
Sharon, 54 @ Canton, 21 – Final – The defending league champs opened the dual meet season with a convincing win at Canton. Ashmith Yeruva, Vehnil Rangaraman, Cam Birnbaum, Nick Varvak, Aaron Stafford, Mason Lelling and Cormac Horlbogen all won their matches by pin for the Eagles.

Oliver Ames, 54 @ Mansfield, 30 – Final – Oliver Ames junior Anthony Stone (160) picked up his first varsity win with a first period pin and senior Nathan Lipski had a thrilling first round pin to beat the buzzer as the Tigers beat Mansfield. OA also got wins from freshman Jonah Bornstein (106), senior Jake Manthous (182), junior Nick Bosader (195), and sophomore Wood Habens Pierre-Louis (285).

Gymnastics
Mansfield, 136.25 @ Attleboro, 132.2 – Final – Mansfield’s Maddie Morris won a pair of events, Sophie Moore and Riley Charest each won one, and the Hornets opened their season with a win over Attleboro. Morris won both the beam and the floor (9.2), Moore took first in the vault (9.1) as well as third on the bars (8.3), and Charest was first on the bars (8.5) and second on the floor (9.05) to pace the Hornets. Attleboro’s Caroline DiMarco was top three in all four events, taking second in each the vault (9.0), the bars (8.4), and the beam (8.5) and third on the floor (9.0).

Girls Basketball
Foxboro, 39 vs. Wachusett, 50 – Final – Click here for a photo gallery of this game. Foxboro got off to a strong start on Wednesday against unbeaten Wachusett, leading 11-8 after one, but struggled to maintain its offensive output and the experienced Mountaineers made the plays down the stretch to pick up the win. Camryn Collins was the top scorer for Foxboro with 14 points, scoring five each in the first and the third. Hannah Blake also had a big game for the Warriors with 13 pints and 14 rebounds. Erin Foley chipped in with seven points and Kailey Sullivan added five. The Warriors had the lead down to four in the fourth quarter (36-32) before Wachusett senior Charlotte Head took over. She scored nine of her game-high 19 in the fourth and Wachusett closed the game on a 14-7 run to win by double digits.

North Attleboro, 39 @ Franklin, 60 – Final – Franklin jumped out to a 35-16 lead by halftime and never looked back, picking up its fourth win in four days and clinching the outright Kelley-Rex title in the process. Stefany Padula led the way for the Panthers, burying four three-pointers and scoring a game-high 20 points, including eight points in the first as Franklin led 17-8. Padula added another seven points in the second, helping the Panthers score another 18 points in the quarter. Olivia Quinn hit a pair of threes and scored 12 points and Katie Peterson added 11. Brigid Earley and Julia White each scored six points in the win. North’s offense got going in the second half, as the Rocketeers scored 23 points (including a 13-6 fourth quarter), but it wasn’t enough to close the gap. Sam Faria was North’s top scorer with eight points, including a pair from downtown, while Abby Camelio added seven. Summer Doherty scored six and Ava McKeon scored five in the loss.

Stoughton, 24 @ Mansfield, 51 – Final – Mansfield used its defense to pull out a win on Tuesday and was dominant again on Wednesday for a third win in the last four days. After a 13-9 first quarter, the Hornets held Stoughton to just four points in the second, seven in the third, and four in the fourth. The Hornets are now just one win away from clinching a playoff berth. Abby Wager had a game-high 13 points for the Hornets, scoring all of her points in the second and third quarters. Bridget Hanley added six in the third, on a pair of threes, and had 11 for the game. Kara Santos added 10 points and Olivia Salisbury had seven for the Hornets. For Stoughton, senior forward Vanessa Phelimond grabbed 10 boards and had eight points, Kate Bulger scored six points, and freshman Leah McCarty chipped in with seven points and seven boards.

Boys Hockey
Attleboro, 1 @ Franklin, 9 – Final – Eight different Panthers found the back of the net as Franklin celebrated senior night with a win over visiting Attleboro. Dan Daley scored a pair of third period goals for the Panthers while Ryan Sicchio, Ben Jarosz, Aiden Linehan, Aiden Kuykendall, Ben Paterson, Tommy Balducci, and Domenic Lampasona each found the back of the net once. Nate Parker scored an unassisted second period goal for Attleboro while Nick Piazza turned away 45 shots in net.

Stoughton, 8 vs. Wareham, 0 – Final – Stoughton notched a key win in its push for a spot in the Division 3 State Tournament, knocking off visiting Wareham/Carver. Colby Strunk led the offense with four goals while Cooper Card, Josh Greenspoon and Steven Westerlund scored a goal each. Chris Andrade and Sean McGowan combined for the shutout for the Black Knights.

Taunton, 67 @ Bristol Plymouth, 6 – Final – Taunton knocked off city rival Bristol-Plymouth to claim the City of Taunton Championships and Christian Balmain became the program’s all-time wins record with his 114th career win. Balmain surpassed former team captain Keith Porazzo, who held the previous record at 113. Michael Leskoski, Ryan Jones, Brandon Mendes, Anthony Vieira, Xavier Sandoval, Ben Mandeville, John Mandeville, Elijah Prophete, Peter Ye, Logan Frank, and Robert Tran also won for the Tigers.

King Philip, 52 @ Taunton, 44 – Final – Emily Sawyer scored 12 of her game-high 18 points in the second half to help the Warrior hold off Taunton and pick up a road win. KP led 13-9 after the first quarter and extended its lead to five points at halftime. The teams were even in the third quarter, so the Warriors kept their five-point edge going into the the fourth. KP outscored Taunton 16-13 over the final eight minutes to secure the victory. Julia Marsden added 12 points for KP and Jackie Bonner had six. Kameron St. Pierre was Taunton’s top scorer with 16 points, including 11 in the second half. Jillian Doherty chipped in with 13 for the Tigers and Cali Melo had nine points before fouling out in the fourth quarter.










Boys Hockey
Stoughton, 1 @ Foxboro, 4 – Final – Foxboro senior Ben Ricketts found the back of the net twice to help the Warriors skate to a non-league win over Stoughton/Brockton. Ricketts scored the first goal for Foxboro and then the third goal, assists from Steve Bridges and Alex Coveillo on the first and Coviello again on his second. Derek Axon’s unassisted shorthanded goal proved to be the game-winner while Matt Grace (from Tom Marcucella and Brett Axon) tacked on a key insurance goal. Sophomore Trevor Marder played well in net for the Warriors with 24 saves. Anthony DeSousa scored the lone goal for the Black Knights.

King Philip, 2 @ Bridgewater-Raynham, 3 – Final (OT)

Girls Hockey
Canton, 5 vs. Dennis-Yarmouth, 2 – Final

King Philip, 4 @ Mansfield/Oliver Ames, 2 – Final – Kelly Holmes scored twice and Sydney O’Shea and Morgan Cunningham lit the lamp once each as King Philip skated to a league win over Mansifeld/Oliver Ames. Both Holmes and O’Shea also had a pair of assists and Cunningham had one, and Mallory Johnston had 19 saves in net for KP.

Stoughton/Sharon, 2 vs. St. Joseph’s Prep, 6 – Final – Ava Buckley accounted for both of Stoughton/Sharon’s goals but the Knights fell to St. Joseph’s Prep. Zoe Bangs assisted on both goals while Peri Rodman recorded one helper.

Wrestling
D2 State Dual Meet (Oliver Ames, Sharon, Mansfield, Milford, North Attleboro), 10:00 (@ North Andover) – Milford won three meets to claim the D2 State Dual championship while Oliver Ames took third and Sharon rounded out the top four. The Scarlet Hawks picked up a win over Plymouth South (60-18) to advance to the semifinal, where they secured a win over the Tigers (42-24). In the championship round, Milford pinned down a win over Minnechaug (52-22). Oliver Ames opened with a win over Mansfield (56-21), moved to the semifinals with a win over Dracut/Tyngsboro (43-33), and then after falling to Milford, rallied to avenge its league loss to Sharon with a come-from-behind 35-32 win, capped by a pin from heavyweight Jaden Hinton. Hinton, Kyle Hardie (145), Giovany Juste (170), and Nathan Lipski (132) went 4-0 on the day. Chris Mills (220) rallied for a win that cut the Sharon lead to three going into the last match, won by Hinton.

Brockton Quad (Taunton) – Taunton had another impressive day on the mat, picking up four wins at the Brockton Super Quad. The Tigers secured wins over Woburn (78-6), Quincy/North Quincy (63-12), Brockton (45-24), and Xaverian (52-27). Mark Ayvazyan scored a pair of goals and Kyle Gruber earned the shutout, as North picked up its fourth win of the week and second in as many days. Ayvazyan opened the scoring on a quick break out down the right wing three minutes into the game. North doubled its lead just 37 seconds later when Brady Sarro was on hand to knock in a rebound. Four minutes into the second, Nick Longa made it three, getting space in the right wing circle before firing in a power play goal. With 90 seconds left in the period, Brody Gaulin got a piece of Anthony Westcott’s shot from the point to make it 4-0 and then Ayvazyan netted his second of the day on a rebound with only 18.7 to go in the period. Freshman goalie Cam Tomaszycki had a strong game for the Tigers in the loss.

Stoughton, 2 @ Oliver Ames, 5 – Final – Oliver Ames scored three unanswered goals over the final two periods to earn the win, sweeping the season series against rink mate Stoughton. Elliott Cohen scored both first period goals for the Tigers while Joe McNulty and Ryan Summers scored for the Black Knights. Sophomores Jack Corey and Matt Lawson each scored and senior Dan Paul netted his first career goal to help the Tigers pull away for the win. Jack Corey, Sean McCarthy, Andrew Poulos, and Ryan Parks all had an assist for OA while Brandon Burke made 17 saves for the win in net.

Girls Hockey
Canton, 0 vs. Medfield, 1 – Final (OT)

Franklin, 1 vs. Norwood, 4 – Final – Click here for a Photo Gallery from this game. Norwood scored three unanswered goals to earn the non-league win over Franklin. The Mustangs took the lead late in the first period, but Julia Flynn tied the game with 3:49 left in the second. She stole the puck at the blue line, deked the goalie to open space on the forehand, and stuffed her shot into the bottom corner to make it 1-1. Norwood answered back inside the final minute of the period. Freshman goalie Izzy Brown stopped a breakaway and made another great save to keep the Mustangs out, but the rebound couldn’t be cleared and Norwood tapped it in to go back in front. Norwood added a third three minutes into the third and sealed the win with an empty net goal. Brown finished with 29 saves in the loss.

Whitman-Hanson Quad (Sharon, King Philip) – Sharon senior Khashayar Zafar earned a third round pin to secure a key six points, helping the Eagles take down Bridgewater-Raynham and finish 3-0 on the day. The Eagles landed wins over B-R (42-36), Whitman-Hanson (36-34), and King Philip (49-19). Adam Landstein (120) and Cormac Horlbogen (182) both went undefeated for Sharon.

Tewksbury Quad (Franklin), 10:00

Cape Cod Invitational (Taunton) – Taunton sent 10 grapplers to the finals on its way to a first place finish at the Cape Cod Invitational at Sandwich High School. Brandon Mendes won his first two matches by pinfall and then earned a 13-2 major decision in the final to take the title at 120, while Ben Mandeville sandwiched a pair of pins around an 8-6 decision in the semis to secure the title at 145. Michael Leskoski (106), Ryan Jones (113), Anthony Vieira (126), Xavier Sandoval (132), Christian Balmain (152), Ethan Harris (182), Peter Ye (195), and Logan Frank (220) all finished second.

Franklin, 3 @ Medway/Ashland, 3 – Final (OT) – Franklin freshman Julia Flynn scored a hat trick to help the Panthers erase a two-goal deficit and earn a tie. Flynn tipped in a shot from Shaw Downing to put the Panthers ahead but Medway/Ashland scored three straight to stake a 3-1 in the third period. Flynn scored twice in short succession (assists from Katie LeBlanc and Ava Vilella) to tie it 3-3, where it stayed through an extra overtime period. Izzy Brown had a strong game in net for Franklin.

Westford Academy Tri-meet (Franklin) – Franklin had a successful showing on Saturday, pinning down wins over both Westford Academy (66-18) and Algonquin (40-36). Matthew Leaman, Riley Carlucci, Brendan Collins, Ahmed Jawando, Jonathan Owen, Alex Fracassa, Alex Foley, Augustus Granata, Ryan Parlon and Nolan Sheridan each had a pinfall victory on the day.

Midland Duals (King Philip), 10:00 (@ Quabbin High)

Milton Quad (Oliver Ames) – Oliver Ames swept all four matches at the Milton quad and had five grapplers pick up a win in each match on Saturday. The Tigers had a dominant win over Excel Academy (73-6) while also pinning down victories over Walpole (66-18), Norwood (56-21), and host Milton (47-33). Elyor Ruzmatov (113), Victor Romeiro (120), Nathan Lipski (132), DJ Lipski (160), and Jaden Hinton (285) all went 4-0 for the Tigers.

Marlboro Quad (Sharon) – Sharon continued its momentum from its big dual meet over OA earlier this week into the weekend, picking up three more impressive wins. The Eagles earned wins over Marlboro (54-21), Essex Tech/Masconomet (49-24), and St. John’s Shrewsbury (57-15). Ashmith Yeruva, Adam Landstein, Cam Birnbaum, Nick Varvak, Kyle Samuels, Aaron Cashton, Philip Varvak, and Cormac Horlbogen all went undefeated for the Eagles.

Methuen Quad (Mansfield, Taunton) – Taunton split its two meets at Metheun, picking up a win over Silver Lake (72-6) but fell to the host Rangers (45-33). Brandon Mendes, Xavier Sandoval, Ben Mandeville, Christian Balmain, Ethan Harris, and Logan Frankl each picked up a pair of wins for the Tigers while Michael Leskoski, Ryan Jones, Anthony Vieira, Brian Haen, John Mandeville, Elijah Prophete, and Robert Tran each won once.

Girls Basketball
Attleboro, 55 @ Milford, 43 – Final – Attleboro made it two wins in two days by jumping out to a big halftime lead and holding off a Milford comeback attempt in the fourth quarter. Meghan Gordon scored a game-high 21 points, including 15 in the first half, while Maddalena Mannucci Pacini led the Hawks with 19 points. After scoring 17 in the first half on Tuesday night, Gordon was held to three points in the opening quarter on Wednesday, but Kayla Goldrick scored five of her 14 to help the Bombardiers take a 16-10 lead. Attleboro’s defense stepped up in the second, holding the Hawks to just four points (all of them by Pacini). Gordon caught fire in the second quarter, scoring 12 of Attleboro’s 16 in the frame, including a pair of threes. Leading 32-14 at the break, Attleboro kept up the offensive barrage in the third, adding another 16 points, but the Hawks found the range to match them. Goldrick had six in the quarter for Attleboro, while Pacini had five in the third and Jess Douglas knocked down one of her two second half threes. In the fourth, Brooke Ferreira scored five of her seven points and helped Milford close out the game with a 13-7 quarter and cut the lead down to a dozen. Lily Routhier chipped in with six points in the game for Attleboro.

Foxboro, 3 @ Taunton, 4 – Final (OT) – Taunton earned its first league win of the season, scoring an overtime goal to hand Foxboro its first loss of the season. Junior forward Connor McGrath scored a pair of goals, including the game-winner in overtime, to lead the way for the Tigers. McGrath also registered an assist while junior Colton Scheralis scored once and recorded two assists. Junior Dylan McCaughey scored and had an assist, and Nathan Fernandes, Travis Cashman, and goalie Cam Tomaszycki (25 saves) each had an assist. The Warriors got goals from Dylan Pothier, Tom Marcucella, and Connor Hayes.

Franklin, 4 vs. Hingham, 2 – Final – Franklin saw its two-goal lead disappear in less than three minutes but the Panthers had an immediate response and secured one of their best wins of the season over one of the state’s top teams in Hingham. The Panthers had a dream start when Adam Quinn (from Ben Jarosz and Liam O’Reilly) scored just 14 seconds into the contest for a 1-0 lead. Dom Lampasona netted an unassisted goal with just over three minutes left in the first for a 2-0 lead at the first intermission. Midway through the second, Hingham scored a pair of goals in 2:31 but Franklin’s Anthony Lampasona (from Quinn) put Franklin back ahead just 27 seconds later. Lampasona (from Logan Marchand) netted his second of the game with 3:20 left to secure the win. Sophomore Cole Pouliot-Porter had a strong game between the pipes with 34 saves against the Harbormen.

Mike Lesksoki (106, 3:03), Christian Balmain (152, 3:29), Avery Justa (220, 0:44), and Logan Frank (285, 3:13) all won by pin to score six points each, Brandon Mendes (120, 17-4) won by major decision, and Anthony Vieira (126, 6-2), Xavier Sandoval (132, 8-5), and Ethan Harris (182, 3-1) each one by decision. Franklin picked up wins from Riley Carlucci (113, 16-0), Tim O’Leary (138, 0:51), Alex Fracassa (145, 11-0), Connor Dillon (160, 9-4), Alex Foley (170, 3;45), and Nolan Sheridan (195, 14-7).

Milford, 39 @ Mansfield, 0 – Final – Milford won five of the seven matches by pinfall to secure a victory over a shorthanded Hornets squad. The Hawks picked up wins from Michael Boulanger (113, 5:02), Robert Lyons (120, 3:39), Paul Hough (152, 5:08), Dan Alves (160, 3:42), Ryan Donovan (170, 12-4), Cameron Phillips (195, 0:13), and Hampton Kaye-Kuter (220, 4:50).

Sharon, 37 @ Oliver Ames, 33 – Final – Click here for a photo gallery of this match – Vehnil Rangaraman’s pin at 113 gave the Eagles a big momentum boost, Adam Landstein and Cam Brinbaum followed with back-to-back pins at 120 and 126, respectively, and Aaron Cashton’s pin at 152 clinched the match as the Eagles secured a key division win over Oliver Ames, moving to 3-0 in Davenport action. Mason Lelling earned a key three points at 182, Ethan Siao won a close 2-1 match for three points at 220, and Nick Varvak prevailed in overtime at 132 for three more points. Ashmith Yeruva had a major decision at 106 to secure four points. Oliver Ames got wins from Gio Juste (170), Anthony Hoffman (195), Jaden Hinton (285), John Dobbin (138), Kyle Hardie (145), and DJ Lipski (160).

Boys Swimming
Canton, 74 @ Milford, 93 – Final – Click here for full results – Canton had more individual winners and won two of the three relays, but Milford’s depth was on full display as the Hawks took two of the top three spots in all but one individual race. Jack Weiner was a two-time winner for Milford, taking first in both the 50 free and the 100 free, and Corey Rattray added a first place finish in he 100 backstroke. Weiner was joined by Aaron McIsaac, Ben Pezza, and Josh Anderson to take first in the 200 free relay, and all three of those swimmers added key points with individual top three finishes. Canton’s Talis Veidis won a pair of individual races (500 free, 200 free) and was apart of both of the Bulldogs’ two winning relay teams.

Sharon, 76 @ Oliver Ames, 61 – Final – Sharon scored 22 points in the opening quarter to build a double-digit lead that it never relinquished for its first win over Oliver Ames since 2016. Senior Will Hippler, junior Matt Baur, and sophomores Nate Katznelson and Jacob McLaughlin all connected from three-point range in the opening eight minutes as the Eagles shot nearly 60% from the field to establish a 22-11 lead. Katzneslon, McLaughlin and junior Jack Bates each added a three in the second for the Eagles, who hit seven of their 12 threes in the first half. Baur finished with a team-high 16 points and five rebounds to lead the way for Sharon, who held a 37-25 lead at half and a 55-35 lead going into the fourth quarter. Katznelson added 15 points and eight rebounds, McLaughlin finished with 13 points and five assists, and senior John Baez had eight points, five assists, four rebounds, and two steals. Zach Tagliamonte led OA with a game-high 17 points and five rebounds while senior Drew Baxter and freshman Cole Craffey each had 10 points.

Boys Hockey
Mansfield, 4 @ Attleboro, 0 – Final – Mansfield exploded for four goals in the second period to skate away with a league win over Attleboro. Senior Dillon Benoit scored a pair of goals for the second straight game, senior Ryan Doherty added one, and freshman Matt Tourigney scored his first career goal. The Hornets went a perfect 3-for-3 on the penalty kill, improving to 9-for-9 on the kill in league games this year.

Canton, 2 @ Franklin, 1 – Final – Canton sophomore Brian Middleton scored the game-winning goal with just over three minutes left in the third period to help the Bulldogs avenge its loss to Franklin from earlier this season, this one in league action.

North Attleboro, 2 @ King Philip, 2 – Final

Taunton, 3 @ Oliver Ames, 4 – Final – Sophomore Andrew Livingstone scored twice and junior Brandon Burke recorded 30 saves to help Oliver Ames edge out Taunton. Junior Noah Isleib scored his first career goal while sophomore Jack Corey scored once. Junior Sean McCarthy recorded two assists while junior Jack Perron, sophomores Matt Lawson and Jake Cunningham, and freshman Patrick DeLoughrey each had one assist.

Stoughton vs. Cardinal Spellman, 0 – Final – Four different players lit the lamp as Stoughton skated to a shutout win over Cardinal Spellman. Aidan Obrock, Joe McNulty, Colin Alessi and Sean Farley each scored once for the Black Knights while Chris Andrade posted the shutout in goal.










Girls Hockey
Canton, 0 vs. Norwood, 3 – Final

Franklin, 2 vs. Dedham, 1 – Final – Franklin picked up its second win over Dedham in the past two weeks, this time with a 2-1 decision in regulation. Julia Flynn and Shaw Downing (from Maggie McCaffrey) scored for the Panthers while Izzy Brown had a great game in net to earn the win.

Stoughton/Sharon, 2 vs. Old Rochester, 8 – Final – Molly Corvino and Zoe Bangs each scored for the Black Knights while Ava Buckley registered an assist on each goal but Stoughton fell to Old Rochester.

Wrestling
Canton, 24 @ Silver Lake, 51 – Final – All four of Canton’s wins on the day were by pinfall, each earning six points but the Bulldogs fell on the road to Silver Lake. Yurii Leskiv (113, 2:14), Max Kupferman (126, 0:34), Cillian Collins (182, 1:52), and Ruairi Ritson (195, 4:28) each won for Canton.

Panther Invitational (Foxboro, King Philip), 10:00 (@ Whitman-Hanson) – King Philip had five finalists and two individual champions to take first place in the Panther Invitational held at Whitman-Hanson. The Warriors had a total of 140.5 points while second place Milton had 131 points. Foxboro had 47 points. Hunter Hastings won all three of his matches by pinfall, including the 195-pound championship with a fall in 1:52 in the championship round. After a bye in the first round, heavyweight Dan Nineve won the semifinal by pin in 1:37 and then took the championship with a pin in 3:24. Sam Debaggis (126), Colby Cloutier (152), and William Conniff (170) each finished second for the Warriors while Lodan Wells (120) took third and Michael Gorman (145) took fourth. Foxboro’s Maxwell Kornbluth (160) and Ryan Addeche (170) finished third while Adam Addeche (120) and Sebastian Zerpa Aguilar (285) finished fourth.

Norton Quad (Mansfield, Taunton) – Taunton senior captain Christian Balmain became just the second wrestler in program history to reach 100 wins and the Tigers went 3-0 on the day at the Norton Quad, beating the host Lancers (50-24), Mansfield (61-15), and Quabbin (72-12). Balmain, who wrestles at 152, earned a forfeit win, a major decision (12-4) over Norton, and a pinfall in 1:20 against Mansfield. Michael Leskoski (106), Xavier Sandoval (138), Ethan Harris (182), Avery Justa (195) also went 3-0 on the day while Ryan Jones (113), Brandon Mendes (126), Anthony Vieira (132), Ben Mandeville (145), John Mandeville (160), Charlie Rabel (170), Peter Ye (220), and Robert Tran (285) each won twice.

St. John’s Prep Super Quad (North Attleboro) – North Attleboro picked up three wins on the day, pinning down victories over Bridgewater-Raynham (42-36), Marblehead/Swampscott (55-24), and Beverly (51-24). Three Rocketeers won all three of their matches with Braxton Ferro (132) and Christopher Galligan (138) each grabbing three pinfalls and Jaad Ismail (170) had two pins and one decision. Tanner Ferguson (120), Tyler Tobias (126), Masen Oyola (145), Benjamin Lodi (160), Greg Berthiaume (182), Austin Dean (195), and Keysun Wise (285) each won twice for North.

Sharon Quad (Sharon) – Sharon picked up three wins at home, beating Belmont (57-24), Concord-Carlisle (48-27), and Catholic Memorial (54-18). Vehnil Rangaraman, Adam Landstein, Cam Birnbaum, Nick Varvak, Aaron Cashton, Philip Varvak, and Cormac Horlbogen all went undefeated for the Eagles on the day.
