Foxboro sophomore Kailey Sullivan has been selected as the HockomockSports.com Player of the Week, presented by Morse Insurance, for Jan. 2 through Jan. 8. Sullivan is the 15th player chosen as Player of the Week for the 2022-23 school year and third in the winter season.
Sullivan is coming off a breakout rookie season and has been at the heart of Foxboro’s strong start to this campaign. The sophomore point guard has helped the Warriors get off to a perfect start in league play, building a two-game lead at the top just a quarter of the way through the Hock schedule, while boasting the league’s top offense (64.8 points per game) and top defense (40.3 points allowed per game).
“Kailey has continued to improve her game this year and is able to maintain a maturity on the court which is incredibly rare for a sophomore,” said Foxboro coach Lisa Downs. “She has several other scorers surrounding her this year, which allows her more opportunities to be a court leader. Her standout game at Sharon was not a complete surprise to me or her teammates since we know how skilled she is, but it was definitely a game in which she took full control offensively and I was very excited for her to have a career scoring game.”
On Friday, in the first game of 2023, Sullivan exploded for a career-high 30 points, as Foxboro rolled to a big win at Sharon. Sullivan knocked down eight three-pointers on the night, showing off the range that allowed her to average a team-high 15.3 points per game as a freshman. It was the third time that Sullivan has hit double figures in six games this season. She also scored 12 points in a win over Franklin before the holidays, including 10 points during Foxboro’s fourth quarter rally that ended the Panthers’ long league winning streak, and had a team-high 17 points in a win over Milford to open the season.
