Foxboro senior Jordyn Collins has been selected as the HockomockSports.com Player of the Week, presented by Morse Insurance, for April 18 through April 24. Collins is the 20th player chosen as Player of the Week for the 2020-21 school year and seventh in the fall II season.
Collins took advantage of the fall II season to get an extra couple of weeks on the track and showed off the speed that made her a league champion in the spring of 2019. The Bryant University soccer commit won a pair of events at this week’s league championship meet, helping Foxboro take fifth place overall as a team. The Warriors took home 47 points, 2.5 points behind fourth-place Mansfield.
Continuing her success from the dual meet season, Collins placed first on both the 100-meter and 200-meter sprints. She finished the 100 in a time of 12.1, which was 0.2 seconds faster than the second-place finisher. In the 200, Collins clocked in at 25.2, which was more than a second faster than the nearest runner (her sister Camryn, a freshman, took third in the 200 with a time of 26.9). She also won both races in each of the five dual meets, as Foxboro took home the Davenport division’s dual meet title. Collins was then apart of the Foxboro 4×100 relay team, helping the Warriors place third overall with a time of 52.2 seconds.
The Player of the Week, presented by Morse Insurance, is selected by the HockomockSports.com staff. Nominations can be submitted throughout the week up until Saturday night at midnight. There may be a poll posted on every Sunday with the nominations. The results of the poll influence the selection but do not strictly dictate the decision.
