Foxboro junior Dylan Barreira has been selected as the HockomockSports.com Player of the Week, presented by Morse Insurance, for Sept. 24 through Sept. 30. Barreira is the fourth player chosen as Player of the Week for the 2018-19 school year.

Barreira exploded for 12 goals in two games last week to take over the league lead in points and goals and help the Warriors to a pair of victories that has them creeping back up the Davenport division standings. After scoring only twice in the opening five games of the season, Barreira recorded back-to-back double hat tricks and now has a league-high 14 goals entering this week’s games.http://dev.hockomocksports.com/wp-content/uploads/2016/11/MorseIns_Wallpaper4.jpg

“Dylan was disappointed to have to miss two games so he was eager to get back out on the pitch and contribute,” said Foxboro head coach Joe Franchino. “I am looking forward to seeing what he brings this week against Franklin, North Attleboro, and Bishop Feehan.”

Barreira caught fire on Monday at Stoughton, scoring all six of his goals in the first half to put away the Black Knights. Foxboro went on to win 7-0. Four of Barreira’s goals against the Bombardiers were assisted by Nic Beigel. On Wednesday, Barreira continued his torrid pace with three goals in the first half against visiting Attleboro and then added a second hat trick after halftime, as the Warriors rolled to an 8-2 victory.

He took a three-goal advantage in the league’s golden boot race into Monday’s games and Foxboro has upped its record to 3-3-1 with a three-game unbeaten streak and is two points behind North Attleboro for third in the division.

The Player of the Week, presented by Morse Insurance, is selected by the HockomockSports.com staff. Nominations can be submitted throughout the week up until Saturday night at midnight. There may be a poll posted on every Sunday with the nominations. The results of the poll influence the selection but do not strictly dictate the decision.
