Taunton senior Colton Scheralis has been selected as the HockomockSports.com Player of the Week, presented by Morse Insurance, for Dec. 12 through Dec. 18. Scheralis is the 13th player chosen as Player of the Week for the 2022-23 school year and first in the winter season.
Scheralis, one of only a handful of upperclassmen in Taunton’s program this season, has started the season with a scoring burst to help the young Tigers jump out to a 2-0 start. He scored two goals and had five assists last week, playing both as a forward and defenseman, depending on where the team needed him at that stage of the game.
“Colton played well in all three zones and was dominant at even strength, on power play, and shorthanded,” said Taunton coach Kris Metea. “His versatility playing forward and defense made him a threat at any moment this week.”
In the season opener against Peabody/Saugus, Scheralis had a hand in more than half of Taunton’s goals in a 7-3 victory. He finished the game with two goals and a pair of helpers to get the Tigers off to the perfect start to the year. Three days later, Scheralis showed off his play-making again in a non-league win over Attleboro. He assisted on three of his team’s four goals in the shutout of the Bombardiers. Scheralis is a plus-eight through two games and has yet to see a goal scored while he’s been on the ice.
