Baseball
Attleboro, 2 @ North Attleboro, 1 – Final – For the second straight year, an Attleboro pitcher fired a no-hitter under the lights at Community Field in the annual Blue-Red Cup game. Sophomore Eoin Kelleher tossed his first career no-hitter, striking out three while allowing five walks. Attleboro senior Matt Callahan provided the offense, hitting his first career home run in the second inning. North tied the game when Kyle McCarthy walked, advanced to second on a ground out and came on an infield error. Callahan gave Big Blue the lead back in the top of the seventh with his second career home run.

Franklin, 8 @ Framingham, 4 – Final – Franklin junior James Leofanti allowed just two runs in five innings of work in his first career start to earn the win. Leofanti allowed four hits, walked two and struck out four while Ben Guzman struck out three in two innings of work in relief. Offensively, Ryan Hodgkins collected four hits, including a double, while scoring one run and knocking in another. Josh Macchi had two doubles, a run and an RBI, Tyler Gomes had two hits and two runs and Jake Noviello reached base three times, scored once and had three RBI.

Taunton, 2 @ New Bedford, 5 – Final

Softball
Attleboro, 2 @ North Attleboro, 9 – Final – North Attleboro swept the season series with the Bombardiers and claimed the Blue-Red Cup with the win. Liz Morehouse had three hits for the Rocketeers, while Meg Barlow, Olivia Capobianco, and Abby Gallagher each had two. According to head coach Bill Wallace, Abby Warren and Andrea Miceli both played well defensively for North and Bella Erti gave up two unearned runs, while striking out eight in six innings.

Canton @ Watertown, 4:00

Foxboro, 0 @ Milford, 15 – Final (5 inn.) – Milford scored 14 runs in the first inning off of 11 hits in a big win over Foxboro. The Scarlet Hawks totaled 18 hits as a team with Jess Tomaso (three-run home run, double, five RBI), Maggie Farrell (two RBI), Emily Hartman (double, RBI) and Ali Atherton (triple, two RBI) each recording three hits apiece. Atherton earned the win, striking out six with two hits allowed.

King Philip, 3 @ Newton North, 4 – Final – Elise Pereira allowed just one earned run but the Warriors fell to Newton North for the second time this season. Newton North went up 2-0 before KP cut the lead in half. Newton North extended it to 4-1 before KP cut it to one run again but the Warriors couldn’t complete the comeback. Nicole Carter had a two-run double for KP while Sydney Phillips had an RBI single and Hailey McCasland contributed with two hits.

Mansfield, 5 vs. Needham, 3 – Final – Sarah Cahill picked up the win for the Hornets, striking out nine and scattering five hits, as Mansfield swept the season series with the Rockets. Mackenzie Burke was 3-for-3 on the day for Mansfield and her single started a three-run rally in the third. Kara Bendanillo and Megan Letendre followed with singles and Mady Bendanillo drove in a pair another single. Liz Mackin drove in the third run with a sac fly. Mansfield added two in the sixth, with Kerran Holmes scoring on a passed ball and Kara Bendanillo driving in Burke.

Oliver Ames, 4 @ Braintree, 10 – Final – Oliver Ames’ Victoria Ziner collected three hits, including two doubles, and knocked in three runs to pace the Tigers offense. Kayla Georgue launched a solo home run while Lizzie Miller and Sarah Tetrault each had a hit and scored a run.

Sharon, 6 @ Milton, 7 – Final

Taunton, 16 vs. New Bedford, 0 – Final (5 inn.) – Taunton senior MacKenzie Handrahan was a perfect 4-for-4 at the plate, knocking in a pair of runs and freshman Hannah Aldrich went 2-for-3 with four RBI to lead the Tigers. Jaime Brown and Bekah Lajoie each went 3-for-3 with an RBI and Hailey Medeiros was 2-for-2 with a pair runs batted in. Eighth grader Kelsey White allowed just one hit in three innings of work, striking out five while freshman Jaylin Couto struck out four without allowing a hit in two innings.

Boys Lacrosse
Attleboro, 16 @ Milford, 4 – Final – Attleboro’s Zach Viau scored a team-high five goals while Andrew Milliken netted four to lead the Bombardiers past Milford in a non-league game. Trevor Koppy made 16 saves in net for Big Blue.

King Philip, 9 @ Falmouth, 12 – Final

Mansfield, 11 @ Dartmouth, 10 – Final

North Attleboro, 8 @ Bishop Feehan, 4 – Final – Feehan jumped out to a 2-0 lead after the first quarter but the Rocketeers rattled off a 5-0 run during the second quarter to seize control and never look back. Jason McNeany (two goals) won 10 face offs while Dan MacDonald turned away an impressive 21 shots while also grabbing five ground balls. Zach McGowan had two goals and seven assists, Jack Dakin added two more goals, Owen Costello scored once and had an assist, Tommy Lindstrom had one helper and Colin Young finished with one goal.
Taunton, 2 @ New Bedford, 11 – Final

Girls Lacrosse
Foxboro, 17 @ Attleboro, 0 – Final – Freshman goalie Sara Addeche recorded her first varsity shutout in the win and Foxboro had 11 different goal scorers in the game.

Mansfield, 19 vs. Dartmouth, 5 – Final

Oliver Ames, 7 @ Sharon, 12 – Final – With Friday’s win over OA, their 11th of the season, the Eagles set a new program record for wins in a season. Alex Rabb scored four goals to lead the way for Sharon, while Emma Eberhardt and Sabrina Robbins each had hat tricks and Anna Crosby had a pair of goals. Liv Piazza scored four goals for the Tigers and Ari Waldorf made 19 saves.

Taunton, 8 vs. New Bedford, 10 – Final – Eighth grader Alana Tavares scored five goals and assisted on another but it wasn’t enough for the Tigers against New Bedford. Lorna Li made 14 saves in defeat.

Boys Tennis
Attleboro, 0 @ North Attleboro, 5 – Final – North Attleboro dropped just three games in singles play and four total in doubles play to earn the clean sweep of Attleboro. Zac Pfeffer won 6-0, 6-1 at first singles, Barsomo Nuay took a 6-0, 6-1 decision at second singles and Andrew Harris notched a 6-0, 6-1 win at third singles. The team of Daniel Zhang and Ben Pfeffer won 6-0, 6-1 at first doubles and Keigan Beaugh and Brendan Hurd won 6-2, 6-1 at second doubles.

Franklin, 2 @ King Philip, 3 – Final – King Philip moved within a game of clinching a share of the Kelley-Rex title with a win over Franklin. Cole Ginter won 7-5, 6-0 at first singles, Martin Matous won 6-0, 6-2 at third singles and Marco DiStefano and Aidan Ignatius clinched the win with a 6-2, 6-4 win at second doubles. Franklin’s Eli Brooks won 3-6, 6-1, 7-6 (7-5) at third singles and the team of James Johnston and Rohan Herur won 6-4, 6-1 at first doubles.

Oliver Ames, 3 @ Brockton, 2 – Final – Oliver Ames junior Joseph Lorizio prevailed from a third set tiebreaker with an 11-9 edge, handing the Tigers the win over Brockton and their first win of the season. OA also won both doubles matches in straight sets.

Taunton, 5 vs. New Bedford, 0 – Final – Taunton recorded its second sweep of the Whalers this season. Sophomore Brett Beaulieu won 6-0, 6-0 at first singles, junior Mike Briggs won 6-1, 6-1 at second singles and senior Eric Gwozdz notched a 6-0, 6-0 win at third singles. The team of sophomores Charlie Fiske and Dylan Kullas dropped just three games in a 6-2, 6-1 win at first doubles and freshman Alex Pugh and sophomore Trevor Hart won 6-0, 6-0 at second doubles.

North Attleboro, 5 @ Attleboro, 0 – Final

King Philip, 4 @ Franklin, 1 – Final

Oliver Ames, 3 vs. Brockton, 2 – Final – Oliver Ames won one singles match and swept doubles play to edge the Boxers. Freshman Maura Kiernan won 6-0, 6-3 at third singles, Tori Wyman and Kristin Bloumbas notched a 6-3, 6-4 victory at first doubles and seniors Catherine Murphy and Emily Gordon sealed the win with a 6-0, 6-7 (5-7), 6-4 win at second doubles.

Baseball
North Attleboro, 2 @ Attleboro, 3 – Final (9 inn.) – Attleboro’s Eoin Kelleher reached on an error to start the ninth scored the winning run at Mason Field when Rob Furtado draw a bases-loaded walk. Senior Dylan Maskell had a very strong outing for the Bombardiers, tossing eight innings with five hits allowed, no earned runs and five strikeouts. Kelleher pitched a scoreless ninth inning to earn the win. Attleboro took the lead with two runs in the third but North clawed back with single runs in the fourth and fifth to tie the game.

Franklin, 12 @ Canton, 4 – Final – Franklin’s offense got going early, plating three runs in each the first and second innings to earn a win over the Bulldogs. Jason Ulrickson earned the win in four innings of work, striking out four with just one earned allowed. Ulrickson also knocked in a pair of runs to help the offense. Both Jake Lyons (three runs, RBI) and Ryan Hodgkins (two runs, two RBI) went 3-for-3 while Cam Benham had two RBI and Matt Foley chipped in with two hits and two runs scored.

Sharon, 3 @ Milford, 4 – Final – Milford senior Nate Irwin threw a complete game, scattering six hits along with one walk while fanning five batters to earn the win. The Scarlet Hawks scored single runs in the first and third and tacked on two more in the fourth. Sharon scored one run in each the first, fourth and sixth innings. Anthony Arcudi (1-for-3, two runs, RBI double), Ryan Goncalves (2-for-4, run) and Alex Coady (1-for-3, RBI double) paced Milford’s offense. Aiden Arnold went 2-for-3 with a double and Drew Naisuler was 2-for-3 with a run for Sharon.

Softball
North Attleboro, 13 @ Attleboro, 0 – Final (5 inn.) – North Attleboro utilized some small ball to pick up its sixth win of the season. Bella Erti struck out two, allowed six hits and walked one in five innings of work in the circle to earn the win for Big Red. Liz Morehouse had a pair of hits and knocked in four runs, Meg Barlow went 3-for-4 and both Andrea Miceli and Erti had two hits. Abby Gallagher and Sam Courtemanche both knocked in a pair of runs for the Rocketeers.

Canton, 0 @ Franklin, 9 – Final – Jackie Cherry and Emily Valentino combined for nine strikeouts in the shutout win over Canton. “It was a solid team win,” said head coach Kate Fallon-Comeau. “Everyone contributed and did their jobs.”

Oliver Ames, 5 @ Mansfield, 11 – Final – Mansfield pounded out 14 hits as a team and got run support for Sarah Cahill early on in a division win. The Hornets played two runs in the first inning, scoring off a single from Kara Bendanillo and a double from Megan Letendre. Mansfield added four runs in the second, capitalizing on singles from Kerran Holmes (3-for-4), Caty DeMassi (two hits) and Liz Mackin (two hits). Mady Bendanillo (two hits) hit a solo home run in the fourth. Sarah Bradley also had two hits for Mansfield. Cahill struck out two, and gave up four hits while earning the win. For Oliver Ames, Katie Abreu was 2-for-3 with two RBI, Victoria Ziner (eight putouts) was 1-for-3 with two runs and Marissa Guarino (1-for-1)
and Lexie Campbell each scored once.

Boys Lacrosse
Attleboro, 11 vs. Norton, 6 – Final – Alex Banner (two goals, three assists) notched a team-high five points while Zach Viau and Andrew Milliken (assist) each recorded a hat trick to pace Attleboro past Norton. Trevor Koppy made 12 saves in net while Matt Potter had nine ground balls.

Foxboro, 5 @ North Attleboro, 6 – Final – North Attleboro scored three goals in the fourth quarter and kept the Warriors off the board to complete the comeback win. The game was tied 2-2 at halftime before Foxboro seized the lead with third goals in the third quarter. However, Big Red scored three unanswered goals, starting with Nick Moore and Jason McNeany (assist). Senior Colin Young scored the game-winner with under three minutes to play. Jack Dakin added two goals, Zach McGowan scored once and had two assists and Owen Costello had one assist. Dan MacDonald made 13 saves in net and also had one assist.

Attleboro, 13 vs. Norton, 12 – Final

North Attleboro, 8 @ Foxboro, 12 – Final

Franklin, 19 @ Milford, 3 – Final – The Panthers picked up their 10th win of the season with a big victory on the road. Lauren Bissanti scored once and had two assists, Grace McDermott and Mairead Goguen each notched one goal and one assist and Lilly Kolb had two goals.

North Attleboro, 5 @ Attleboro, 0 – Final – North Attleboro prevailed with a sweep of rival Attleboro, taking all five matches in straight sets. Eli Brooks took second singles 6-3, 6-2 and Rohan Herur won 6-2, 7-6 (8-6) at third singles. James Johnston and Derek Wu notched a 6-1, 6-1 at first doubles and Tyler DiPalma and Rahul Hosdurg won 6-3, 6-0 at second doubles.

Attleboro, 1 @ North Attleboro, 4 – Final – North Attleboro didn’t drop a game in either first or second singles play in a win over Attleboro. Emily Chiasson and Jordan Willis each won 6-0, 6-0 at first and second singles, respectively. The team of Gabby Duva and Katie Demontigny won 6-1, 6-1 at first doubles and Leah Marceau and Tara Nair notched a 6-4, 6-1 win at second doubles. Attleboro’s Anna Nelson recorded a 6-4, 2-6, 10-5 win at third singles for the Bombardiers.

Franklin, 2 @ Canton, 3 – Final – Franklin dropped just two games in winning first and second singles but Canton’s second doubles team prevailed in three sets to help the Bulldogs earn the win. Hannah Sweeney won 6-0, 6-0 at first singles and Anja Deric won 6-1, 6-1 at second singles for the Panthers. Canton’s team of Stelina Michaelidis and Sarah Hernandez battled back to win 6-7 (3-7), 6-2, 6-0 at second doubles. Kiki Karavas won 6-4, 6-3 at third singles and Julia Burkowski and Jena Moyle won 6-1, 6-2 at first doubles for Canton.

Mansfield, 4 @ Oliver Ames, 1 – Final – Mansfield swept singles play and won all four of its victories in straight sets to knock off Oliver Ames. Senior Paulina Martin won 6-1, 6-1 at first singles, junior Sarah Doyle won 6-0, 6-4 at second singles and sophomore Elizabeth Elsner took third singles 6-3, 6-4. The team of senior Chloe Peters and sophomore Tessa Garufi won 6-3, 6-4 at first doubles. Oliver Ames’ Catherine Murphy and Ana Serjak won 7-5, 5-7, 6-2 at doubles.

Girls Track
Attleboro, 41 @ Mansfield, 91 – Final – Mansfield senior Caitlin Whitman made the switch to the 400M hurdles and prevailed as the winner, crossing in 71.1. Whitman also anchored the 4×400 team that finished first. Senior Jordan Brill-Cass ran a PR in the 200M, clocking in a 26.3 while also participating on the winning 4×100 team. Sopohomores Val Buonora (800) and Maggie Riley (2 Mile) picked up wins as well.

2017 Hockomock Boys Lacrosse Preview

Attleboro

2016 Record: 4-13
2016 Finish: Missed playoffs
Coach: Kevin Koppy

Now in its fourth year at the varsity level, Attleboro boys lacrosse is looking to take the next step in the 2017 season. First year head coach Kevin Koppy made it clear what the goal is for Big Blue: the postseason.

Koppy has plenty of experience at the youth level so he’s very familiar with a lot of the players on the team.

“With the experience and leadership of this team, I fully expect us to make the playoffs this year which would be a first for this relatively young program,” Koppy said. “If the kids work hard and play as a team we have enough talent to make this happen.”

Offensively, seniors Seth Lombardy and Zach Viau, along with junior Alex Banner, will see a lot of time. They’ll be bolstered by the midfield help of seniors Andrew Milliken, Sam Carrado and Jay Mota and sophomore Zach Thomas in the midfield. Juniors Kyle Henry and Aidan McKenna will man the face off X while Jim Nordberg and Chris Reynolds will be long stick midfielders.

Defensively, four year starter and captain Tyler Koppy will anchor the backline alongside juniors Dan Perry and Matt Potter. Sophomore Trevor Koppy returns as the starting goalie again this season.

Canton

2016 Record: 11-8
2016 Finish: Reached D2 South Quarterfinals

The Bulldogs will rely on its athleticism, and be bolstered by depth this season, having more players in the program this season than in the last couple of years.

Canton looks to have one of its most athletic squads from top-to-bottom in recent years and will certainly be in the mix for the Davenport title after winning it twice in the past four seasons.

Offensively, the Bulldogs lost one of the top scorers in the league and in program history in Ben O’Neill, but the good news is that four of the team’s six top point producers from a year ago are back: Ryan Lodge, Joe Mulkay, Dan Dillon and Mike Shaw, all of which reached double figures in points.

Michael Pigeon has been one of the top LSMs in the league the last two years and will be a key piece for Canton defensively this season. Canton will rely on experience to fill the positions around him. The starting goalie spot is up for grabs between Dylan Cunningham, CJ Martin and Jack Connolly.

“The Davenport division is wide open again this year so we know every game is going to matter…we can’t wait to get going,” said head coach Bill Bendell.

Foxboro

2016 Record: 11-7
2016 Finish: Reached D2 Central/East Quarterfinals
Coach: Matt Noone

The Davenport division looks like it will be wide open this year, but Foxboro could have a slight advantage because of the experience they return this season.

On offense, junior Andrew Whalen is a three year starter and junior Louis Piccolo led the team in scoring a team ago. Junior Mike Moses and sophomore Pete Conley will also factor into the attack or could see time in the midfield. Seniors Trey Guerini and Colin Spinney not only bring a wealth of experience to the midfield, but they have a lot of talent. Sophomore Brendan Tully will relocate to the midfield this season while junior Sam Blake, Lou Blake and Mike Collins will all factor in the midfield as well.

Defensively, it all starts with goalie Jake Addeche, one of the top netminders in the league and the area. Pat Kaveny is a two year starter, as is senior Padraig Farmer and will provide plenty of experience to the back line. Sophomore Pat Stapleton and freshman Ronnie MacLellan will also factor in defensively for the Warriors.

Franklin

2016 Record: 14-6
2016 Finish: Reached D1 South Quarterfinals

The Panthers are going to be young compared to past years, and compared to other teams in the league, but what they lack in age, they more than make up in skill.

There aren’t much better in the offensive end than junior Eric Civetti, and he’s only been in the league for two years. Already committed to Rutgers, Civetti will be one of the most dangerous scorers in the league. Senior captain Sam Arsenault will also be a top option in the offensive end while midfielders Packie Watson, a senior and Nitin Chaudhury, a sophomore, will also be viable options.

Defensively, the Panthers have a second Rutgers commit in sophomore Patrick Morrison. Senior Wyatt Arsenault will give the backline some experience while senior Jack Platner will be the team’s LSM. Junior Connor O’Rourke is back in the cage after a breakout sophomore year.

“We are young as compared to past years, but I feel we’ll be very competitive,” said head coach Lou Verrochi. “We’re very fortunate to have a strong youth program and many boys playing club lacrosse which provides us with talented players every year.”

King Philip

2016 Record: 11-9
2016 Finish: Reached D1 South Quarterfinals

The Warriors had another strong season in 2016 and will be looking to do the same in 2017.

King Philip was strong in league play, posting a 7-3 record and will try to carry that success over to its non league schedule, which include games against Bishop Feehan, Newton North, Hopkinton, Westwood and more.

Paul Macrina has been one of the top goalies in the league over the past couple of seasons and is now ready for his senior year.

Replacing leading scorer Sam Agricola will certainly be a tough test, as well as replacing the production of Harry Fallon. But Tim Watson (27 goals, 21 assists) brings a lot of experience back to the offensive end for the Warriors.

Mansfield

2016 Record: 15-4
2016 Finish: Reached D1 South First Round
Coach: Tim Frias

Coming off one of the program’s best seasons in recent history, the Hornets will be looking to replicate that success in 2017.

The challenge will be replacing some of the top talent that graduated, including midfielders Billy Grant and Connor Finerty, and defenseman Josh Schafer.

The good news is that the Hornets return two of the top talents in the league with Sean Powers back in goal and Hunter Ferreira back patrolling the midfield. Joe Cox and Danny DeGirolamo will flank Ferreira in the midfield with Aidan Sacco, Brett Kessler and Brad Grant factoring in as well.

Offensively, seniors Cullen Murphy, Sam O’Connell and Jon Reed will be one of the most experienced units in the league. On defense, Grant Milas, Mike Zampine, Josh London and Tommy Donnelly will hold court in front of Powers.

“We are going to go out there this season and try to improve on the aspects we were weak on last season and just try to compete in every contest,” said head coach Tim Frias.

Milford

2016 Record: 0-18
2016 Finish: Missed playoffs
Coach: Doug Gallant

The Hawks are hoping for a turnaround season after going without a win a season ago. First year head coach Doug Gallant has taken over at the helm and is looking to make Milford a participant in the Davenport race.

The heart of the lineup could be in the midfield, with junior Andrew Gallagher bringing experience to the table and sophomores Ryan Hazard and Josh Ligor, as well as freshman Dan Farrell, providing the Hawks with skill and speed.

In the attacking end, Gallant will look to senior Alex Wood and sophomore Ryan Pearl, both with varsity experience, to pace the offense. LSM Nick Lurie and defenseman Harrison Bliss will be key pieces on defense in front of goalie Drew Mirisola.

“We have a great group of kids who are very eager to be successful,” said Gallant. “The reception from the players has been outstanding and they have bought in to my system.”

North Attleboro

2016 Record: 8-10
2016 Finish: Missed playoffs

After just missing out on the postseason a year ago, North Attleboro returns a lot of key pieces and will not only make a push for the playoffs, but should be in the mix for the Davenport crown.

The entire attacking corps is back this season Zach McGowan, Owen Costello and Colin Young all back again this season. Tim Lindstrom, who missed last season with an injury, will also be a key piece offensively for the Rocketeers.

Jack Dakin, the team’s leading scorer a season ago, will be a team leader from his midfield position while Nick Ward, Hunter Sarro, Nick Moore and Jason McNeany will all get minutes in the midfield as well. Poles David James, Zach Doucette and Tom Lockovitch, along with LSM Max Fontes, bring a combination of speed and size for the Rocketeers.

Dan McDonald is back for another year in goal and will be like a coach on the field for North Attleboro.

“He’s very solid in net and a great team leader,” head coach Kevin Young said of MacDonald. “Dan is that rare player that is like having a coach on the field. I think Dan is as good a goalie as you’ll see playing anywhere in Massachusetts this year.”

Oliver Ames

2016 Record: 10-10

The Tigers not only made the playoffs a season ago, but won their first ever postseason game as a program. Oliver Ames will face new challenges this season with the switch to the Kelley-Rex division.

While the Tigers face the task of going head to head with some of the top teams in the league, Oliver Ames will rely on team chemistry to try and get back to the postseason.

Offensively, juniors Owen Gallagher and Eric LeBlanc are back as two of the team’s top point producers. They’ll be helped by midfielders Liam Brown, a senior captain, and Jack Lang, a junior. Defensively, senior captain Phil Saba and senior Max Howe are two experienced players that will man the space in front of senior goalie Sean Cosgrove.

“The boys have worked very hard, and bought into our program,” said head coach Chris Digiacomo. “We play in an extremely tough league, but the boys are excited to get started.”

Sharon just made it into the postseason a year ago, punching its ticket on the last game of the season with a win over North Attleboro.

This season, the Eagles are expecting to qualify for the state tournament again because of the experience they have returning for the 2017 season.

Josh Rotman, who registered 35 goals a season ago, is one of the top midfielders in the league and will be relied upon to lead the Eagles this season. Spencer Hall and Chase Waxman are also back and should make an impact on both ends of the field. Jack Lesser has the ability to get forward and play as an attack or can drop into a midfield role.

“We have a lot of guys with experience at this level returning, so we have set our expectations high,” said head coach Pete DeSisto.

Stoughton

The Black Knights are the new kids on the block, entering their first year at the varsity level after playing at the JV level the last couple of seasons.

Combining the JV experience and a budding youth program, Stoughton won’t be starting from scratch. However, the Black Knights are ready for what could be a roller coaster ride of a season.

Leading the way for the Black Knights are captains Dave Cellucci, Ryan Pierri, Harry Leal and Matt St. Clair. Leal will anchor the team from the cage, Pierre is the leader of the team’s poles and Cellucci and St. Clair are standout members of the Black Knights’ midfield.

“The team knows we’re going to be getting our share of bumps and bruises,” said head coach Pat Healey. “And winning here in the Hock is no easy chore. But it wouldn’t be much of a challenge if it was easy.

Taunton

After getting its feet wet last season, Taunton is looking to improve now in its second year at the varsity level.

Sophomore goalie Ryan Williams was a bright spot for the Tigers a season ago and now, with a year under his belt, will an important part of the Tigers’ defense this season. Senior captain Mason Baacke and sophomore LSM Dylan Nichols will be key pieces in front of Williams.

Offensively, Shawn Campbell will try to ignite Taunton from the face off X while senior captain Andrew Wellington, who had a solid season a year ago, will be a vital piece in the midfield for first year head coach Brendan Chambers.

Attleboro, 9 @ Canton, 4 – Final – Attleboro senior Tyler McGovern tossed four-plus innings with just one hit allowed, striking out six to earn the win. Sophomore Troy Van Vliet paced the offense, connecting for a pair of doubles, knocking in three runs and scoring two runs of his own.

Franklin, 5 @ North Attleboro, 1 – Final – Five different Panthers recorded a hit and junior Jake Noviello shined in his season debut on the mound to lead Franklin past North Attleboro. Noviello tosses six inning, allowing four hits and two walks while striking out seven. Bryan Woelfel struck out two in a shutout inning in relief. Noviello also recorded a hit and scored a run on offense. Sophomore Alex Haba went 1/3 with a double, two RBI and a run scored, senior Cam Lupien added a hit, a run and an RBI, senior Josh Macchi had a double and a run scored and senior Jake Lyons had an RBI and a hit for the Panthers.

Milford, 2 @ King Philip, 4 – Final – King Philip senior Chris Wing tosses six innings, allowing just a pair of hits while retiring the side in order in each the second, fourth, fifth and sixth innings. Sophomore Jack Webster recorded the save. Offensively, the Warriors notched eight hits as a team with Collin Cooke (RBI) and Ryan Coulter each recording two. Ben Furfari knocked in a pair of runs and Webster also had an RBI.

Stoughton, 2 @ Oliver Ames, 6 – Final – Oliver Ames scored a pair of runs in both the third and fourth innings while tacking on single runs in the first and sixth innings to open the season with a win. Junior Matt Muir went 2-for-4 with a pair of triples and a pair of runs scored while senior Kyle Gagliardi was 2-for-4 with a pair of RBI. Sam Burr earned the win on the mound, scattering six hits over 6.1 innings with two runs allowed.

Attleboro, 7 @ Canton, 5 – Final

Franklin, 1 @ North Attleboro, 2 – Final – North rallied from a run down in the bottom of the seventh inning to open the season with a win. Sam Courtemanche led-off the inning with a double. Ashley Cangiano came in to run and scored on an Abbie Gallagher grounder. With the bases loaded, Meg Barlow (2-for-3) provided the walk-off hit with a double. Bella Erti threw a complete game for North with four strikeouts and five hits allowed.

Oliver Ames, 0 @ Stoughton, 6 – Final – Gina Carafa threw a five-hit shutout for the Black Knights, striking out eight and only walking one. Alessandra Loffredo provided Stoughton with offense from the nine-hole, hitting a two-run homer in the sixth. Victoria Ziner went 2-for-2 and reached base three times for OA.

Sharon, 0 @ Taunton, 19 – Final (5 inn.) – The Tigers got off to a dominant start behind three, one-hit innings and six strikeouts from Courtney Fisher, who also went 3-for-3 with an RBI. Jamie Brown went 3-for-5 with a double, triple, and an RBI and Kya Enos, Jaylin Couto, Hannah Aldrich, and Rebekah Lajoie each had two hits apiece for Taunton. Lajoie drove in four runs.

Boys Lacrosse
Attleboro, 6 @ Oliver Ames, 5 – Final (2OT) – Zach Thomas scored his second of the game with less than a minute to play to tie the game and junior Alex Banner netted the game-winner in double overtime to lift the Bombardiers past OA. Cam Littig added a pair of goals for Attleboro while senior Andrew Milliken scored once. Banner, Seth Lombardy and Zach Viau each notched an assist as well. Sophomore Trevor Koppy made 14 saves in net for the Bombardiers, who battled back from a 3-1 deficit at halftime. Head coach Kevin Koppy credited the play of defensemen Jim Nordberg, Matt Potter, Chris Reynolds and Tyler Koppy for holding the Tigers to just two goals in the second half. For Oliver Ames, Eric LeBlanc scored a pair of goals while Owen Gallagher, Jack Lang and Colin Bourne each scored once.

Foxboro, 17 @ Norwood, 2 – Final

North Attleboro, 7 @ Bishop Feehan, 6 – Final (OT) – North Attleboro senior Colin Young scored his lone goal of the game in the overtime period to lift the Rocketeers. Tommy Lindstrom netted a hat trick while Zach McGowan added a pair of goals and one assist and Jack Dakin notched three assists. Nick Moore scored once and set up Young for the game-winner. Dan McDonald had 13 saves in the cage for Big Red.

Oliver Ames, 16 @ Attleboro, 2 – Final – Eight different players found the back of the net as Oliver Ames cruised to a non-league win on the road. Kendall Clifford accounted for five goals while Sofia Masciarelli scored our and Liv Piazza had three goals. Ariana Waldorf recorded 13 saves in goal for the Tigers.

Canton, 6 @ Mansfield, 19 – Final

Foxboro, 16 vs. Norwood, 4 – Final

Franklin, 13 vs. Lincoln-Sudbury, 7 – Final – Franklin built a 6-3 lead by halftime and then continued its strong offensive showing in the second half. Sophomore Annie Walsh and freshman Erin Walsh each scored goal goals apiece and Caroline Lounsbury added a pair for the Panthers. Dana Lewandowski played well on defense with three ground ball and freshman Gianna Cameron made nine saves in net.

Sharon, 19 @ Milford, 6 – Final

Taunton, 16 vs. Norton, 8 – Final – Delaney Powell scored six goals and Alana Tavares added five for the Tigers, who opened the season with a non-league win. Annie Tate and Abbey Kingman both had hat tricks for Taunton and Lorna Li had 12 saves.

Mansfield, 3 @ Foxboro, 2 – Final

Franklin, 4 @ North Attleboro, 1 – Final – Senior Rahul Herur and freshman Rohan Herur each won in singles while while the Panthers swept doubles in a victory over North. Rahul Herur won 6-3, 6-1 at first singles while Rohan Herur took third singles, 6-1, 6-1. The team of James Johnstone and Derek Wu won 6-3, 6-1 at first doubles and Tyler DiPalma and Saketh Saripalli won 6-2, 2-6, 6-1 at second doubles. North Attleboro’s Barsomo Nuay won 6-4, 6-1 at second singles.

King Philip, 5 @ Milford, 0 – Final – An experienced King Philip team opened the season with a sweep on the road at Milford. Cole Ginter won 6-0, 6-0 at first singles, Martin Martous won 6-0, 6-2 at second singles and Blake Ginter took third singles 6-1, 4-6, 6-4. Ryan Gemelli and Sam Colella teamed up for a 7-5, 6-4 win at first doubles and Jake Webster and Marco DiStefano took a 6-4, 6-0 win at second doubles.

Oliver Ames, 2 @ Stoughton, 3 – Final – Stoughton got wins at first and third singles as well as first doubles to earn the program’s first win in two seasons. Senior Stevens Bontemps won 6-2, 6-3 at first singles and sophomore Alex Bernstein picked up a 6-3, 6-4 win at third singles. The team of senior Jon Podesta sophomore Erik Anderson clinched the win with a 6-2, 7-5 win at first doubles. Oliver Ames junior Joseph Lorizio won 7-5, 6-1 at second singles and Greg Mueller and Michael Souza won 6-4, 2-6, 10-6 at second doubles for the Tigers.

Canton, 2 @ Attleboro, 3 – Final – Attleboro picked up wins at first and second singles and another at first doubles to edge Canton. Torey Lussier won 6-3, 3-6, 6-2 at first singles while Brianna Aronne won 6-1, 6-2 at second singles. The team of Taylor Palermo and Merri Piazza came back to claim a 1-6, 6-4, 6-3 win at first doubles. Canton’s Jamie Cree won 3-6, 6-4, 6-4 at third singles and the team of Stelina Michaelidis and Kiki Karavas won 6-2, 6-3 at second doubles.

Foxboro, 4 @ Mansfield, 1 – Final

North Attleboro, 4 @ Franklin, 1 – Final – North Attleboro didn’t drop a game at either second singles or first doubles while also getting victories at third singles and second doubles. Jordan Willis won 6-0, 6-0 at second singles and the team of Gabby Duva and Azka Siddiq won with the same score at first doubles. Shurobhi Nandi won 6-1, 6-2 at third singles and the team of Katie Demontigny and Hana Hershey won 6-1, 6-0 at second doubles. Franklin’s Hannah Sweeney won 6-0, 6-1 at first singles.

Stoughton, 1 @ Oliver Ames, 4 – Final – Oliver Ames swept singles play and also got a win at second doubles to earn the win over Stoughton. Sarah Leger won 6-0, 6-3 at first singles, Claudia Ferrara won 6-2, 6-1 at second singles and Mandi Miller swept third singles 6-0, 6-0. The team of Kristin Bloumbas and Olivia Groebe won 6-2, 6-1 at second doubles. Stoughton’s Alex Soto and Amanda Gallant won 4-6, 7-5, 6-0 at first doubles.

Sharon, 5 @ Taunton, 0 – Final – Sharon didn’t drop a single game in singles play and also won both doubles matches to get the sweep. Sophomore Nupur Shukla, freshman Emily Zhang and junior Lulu Yuan all won 6-0, 6-0 at first, second and third singles, respectively. The team of juniors Katie Merport and Emily Wen won 6-4, 7-5 at first doubles while junior Rithic Neti and sophomore Sophia Fein won 6-1, 6-1 at second doubles.

Milford, 3 vs. St John’s Shrewsbury, 1 – Final

Taunton, 3 @ New Bedford, 0 – Final – Taunton notched its second won of the season with a 26-24, 25-18, 25-17 win on the road over the Whalers. Lance Law led the way with 10 kills, four aces, six digs and one block while Lens Esquil had nine kills and two blocks and Nate Grant had 30 assists, three kills and a block.

Attleboro Falls Just Short At Bridgewater-Raynham

BRIDGEWATER, Mass. – After weathering a tough opening quarter, Attleboro took a lead into halftime and held onto it until the midway point of the fourth quarter.

But the Bombardiers never landed the knockout punch, never fully took control of the momentum, leaving the door slightly open for Bridgewater-Raynham.

The fifth-seeded Trojans pounced, using a 9-0 run over a two minute span that erased a deficit and turned it into a lead — one they wouldn’t relinquish in a 74-71 win over 13th-seeded Attleboro.

“In the postseason, every possession matters, offensively and defensively,” said Attleboro head coach Mark Houle. “I thought we had some good momentum on offense but then we’d give up a transition basket. Our momentum was short lived because they came back and got something quick a lot of the time and I think that was a huge difference tonight.

“It wasn’t for a lack of effort, the effort was certainly there tonight. I just think [B-R] did a great job of executing what they needed to do to win the basketball game.”

After trailing by as much as nine in the first half, the Bombardiers used a successful second quarter to take a two-point lead into half. That two-point lead grew to a five-point advantage heading into the final frame and stayed at the point until midway through the quarter.

“It was a hell of a tournament ball game,” said B-R head coach Doug Alves. “Two good teams going at it and luckily we were the team that came out on top. I think we made one or two more plays than they did and that made a different in the fourth quarter.”

Jake Dunkley (17 points, eight rebounds) hit a pair of free throws to give Attleboro a 61-55 lead with just under six minutes to play but the Trojans were ready with a response.

Bridgewater-Raynham senior — and former Taunton standout — EJ Dambreville drained a deep three on a kind bounce to cut the deficit to three. After getting a stop on the defensive end, B-R took advantage of an offensive rebound, eventually finding the hands of Griffin Perry. His trifecta tied the game at 61-61 with just our four minutes to play in the game.

The Bombardiers were tripped up while going to the basket on the next play, one of the few times there wasn’t a whistle on the play. The teams combined for over 40 fouls and 61 free throw attempts.

Bridgewater-Raynham took advantage of the no-call when Darrius Hyppolite drained his third three of the contest to give the Trojans a 64-61 advantage.

“We kept that six point lead in the second half and it seemed when they would get it to four, we kept pushing it back to six or eight,” Houle said. “There was a couple of possessions in a row they got some threes, Dambreville had one from deep, then they got one to tie it and then they hit one to go ahead. THat’s when they got the momentum, it really went in their favor. It ended up being somewhat of a difference when they got over that hump. Down the stretch, they executed their transition offense better than we executed our defense.

“B-R’s a good team, they played hard, they played physical, everything was challenged.”

Attleboro snapped its near three minute scoreless streak with a pair of free throws from Dunkley to cut the deficit to two but B-R answered with a baseline jumper from John Tesson, who had a team-high 18 points.

Bombardiers’ freshman Bryant Ciccio (14 points, four assists) answered with a pull up jumper from the foul line to get with two again. Attleboro for the miss it needed but Dambreville went up, got a slight tough of the ball and pulled the rim down, allowing the ball to fall in for two.

“We knew they’d come out and pressure us, we had to take care of the basketball,” Houle said. “There were times they were able to get some deflections, get some steals and get the tempo to their liking. They scored a lot of points in transition offense. We’d make a big shot and then turnaround and they’ve come right back and get to the foul line or score or we just didn’t stop the ball. They won that battle tonight.”

The teams each traded a free throw as the B-R advantage stayed at four (70-66) with under two minutes to play. Attleboro had two looks to cut the deficit but missed the front end of a one and one and a missed on a drive to the basket. B-R then hit free throws down the stretch. Andrew Milliken (14 points) hit a late three to get to the final score.

The Trojans built an early lead through high pressure, forcing Attleboro into turnovers or quick shots. B-R took an early 11-3 lead and went up 16-7 on a three from Perry. Attleboro got back into the game with an 8-2 run – a bucket from Dom Victor and three point plays from Milliken and Qualeem Charles (seven points, eight rebounds). But Perry hit a late three and then Dambreville got on to go just before the buzzer from just over half to put the Trojans up 24-15 after one.

Ciccio took over in the second quarter for Big Blue, scoring 10 points in the quarter to help the Bombardiers go from behind to ahead. Over the first four and half minutes of the quarter, Attleboro went on a 13-4 run with Ciccio hitting a pair of free throws to tie the game. Ciccio’s lone field goal – which turned into a traditional three point play – of the quarter put Attleboro ahead by two. Lucas Boucicaut drove to the basket for two, giving Attleboro a 36-29 lead. B-R close the quarter on a 6-1 run to get within two at half.

“Bryant has had a real solid freshman season,” Houle said. “I think that second quarter, he really took over and showed what he can do offensively creating space and creating opportunities for us to score. His energy level and his ability to get by a defender is a great skill. Being freshmen, him and Q, they’re only going to get better.”

Attleboro boys basketball finishes the season 13-10 overall, tied four fourth in the Kelley-Rex. The Bombardiers will graduate four players, including Dunkley, who finished with over 900 career points. Houle had high praise for all four of the seniors.

“Jake Dunkley is such a hard worker, he’s so passionate about the game of basketball. He works hard on both ends of the court. He’s a terrific leader for us. Andrew Milliken is another leader. He’s done anything and everything we’ve asked of him this year, playing guard or playing a big, his heart and effort is what we take pride in. Lucas Boucicaut has been playing varsity since his sophomore year. He’s had his ups and downs but I’ll tell you he’s grown a lot as a young man. He’s been a pleasure to coach and he’s given us everything he had. Robby Pierce, this year came in and was probably our best worker in practice and did all the little things. His game time might not be as much but his effort and attitude is something you really want your seniors to have. I’m really proud of all four of them.”

North Edges Attleboro On McCarthy’s Buzzer Beater

ATTLEBORO, Mass. – North Attleboro senior Kyle McCarthy took the inbounds pass with 5.7 seconds to go and streaked up the right side of the court. He switched the ball to his right hand before crossing back to his left as he hit the three point line. He found space between a pair of defenders, rose up and released.

The ball seemed to take a deflection off a defenders hand, hit the front end of the rim, took a bounce and fell through the net as time expired.

The result was a 56-54 win for North Attleboro in a non-league contest with rival Attleboro, giving the Rocketeers a season sweep of the Bombardiers.

“I saw a couple of defenders in front of me but coach wanted us to attack the hoop,” McCarthy said. “I got to the rim, put it up, it might have been tipped in but it went in, that’s what matters. It was just a great team win. North Attleboro against Attleboro, we couldn’t have scripted it better, it was just an unreal game to be apart of.”

Both sides traded baskets throughout the fourth quarter, with Attleboro taking a 50-49 lead with just over three minutes to play on a jumper from Nate Douglas. But North had an answer right away as Hacmoni Cuevas took a pass from McCarthy and drained a three near the end of the shot clock to put North ahead 52-50.

The teams traded misses before McCarthy came away with a steal and went down for a layup. His shot rimmed out but senior Jonny Friberg (22 points, 12 rebounds) was there to clean it up with the put back with 1:22 to play.

“When it comes down to it, they made some big plays down the stretch,” said Attleboro head coach Mark Houle. “That three by Cuevas was a big one. And then McCarthy is just a gamer, he made a nice play. We were trying to get a sub in to get a matchup but we didn’t get it in. Bottom line, we needed to stop the ball and we didn’t do that. Our kids battled, I think we did a better job on Friberg than we did the first time. Brent’s a terrific player, you can’t make mistakes on him. For them to go back to back and beat two teams is not easy.”

Attleboro senior Jake Dunkley (20 points, 10 rebounds) cut the deficit in half with a pair of free throws with 1:01 to play. The Bombardiers came away with a stop on the defensive end and sprinted ahead to try to find the tying bucket, but North came away with a steal to take possession with 28 seconds to play.

Attleboro was forced to foul its way into the bonus, sending the Rocketeers to the line for a one-and-one opportunity. North missed the front end, giving the Bombardiers a final chance with 12.9 to go.

Douglas navigated his way around a screen and drew the foul to head to the line with two shots. North Attleboro coach Sean Mulkerrins called a timeout before the shots to draw up the play.

“We wanted to get the ball to either Kyle or Brent [Doherty] off the inbounds, get Jonny down for a rebound and then get Moni and Chad [Peterson] set up for a shot,” Mulkerrins said. “We wanted to penetrate and have two guys ready for a shot or Jonny for the rebound. I think there might have been a little luck involved in the shot going in but Kyle did a nice job and we’ve been on the other side of that a couple of that so I think our kids deserved it.”

The largest lead of the entire game was nine, coming midway through the first quarter when Attleboro raced out to a 15-6 lead. Back to back threes from Cuevas and McCarthy helped the Rocketeers cut the deficit down, trailing 17-12 after one quarter.

North surged back to take the lead on back-to-back baskets from Doherty (17 points) and McCarthy but a quick 6-2 surge from the Bombardiers gave the hosts a slim 29-27 advantage at half.

“We knew after the first game this season, they’d come at us with everything,” Mulkerrins said. “I thought Mark [Houle] and his staff did a tremendous job being without a starter or two or at least kids that can play starter minutes. Coming out, they were so intense defensively and that led to some good offense opportunities for them. Coming off a back to back, we came out a little slow but to our kids’ credit, their mental toughness, we punched back after the first and kept it close.”

It was a see-saw third quarter with Andrew Milliken (eight points, seven rebounds) hitting a three to put Attleboro ahead only for Doherty and Friberg to hit back to back buckets to take the lead back. Dunkley converted a three point play, Friberg responded with two free throws to tie it and then Dunkley drained a three for another three point lead.

Friberg added two but baskets from Dunkley and Lucas Boucicaut created a five point separation. Doherty cut into that with a three, Attleboro’s Elvin Sam (13 points) pushed it back to four with a layup, Friberg answered again but Dunkley had the final basket of the quarter to give the Bombardiers a 46-42 edge heading into the final quarter.

“For us, playing Attleboro at their place, regardless of or record, or scenario or situations, it’s always a tough game,” Mulkerrins said. “It’s one of my favorite places on our schedule to play because the people of Attleboro love basketball. There’s always a great atmosphere and you can’t play in a better gym to get more prepared for the tournament.”

North Attleboro boys basketball (14-7 overall, 10-6 Hockomock) will conclude the regular season on Wednesday when they host Bishop Feehan. The Rocketeers have a chance to earn a home playoff game with a win. Attleboro (12-9, 8-8) will finish the regular season with a trip to Durfee on Wednesday in a showdown of two D1 playoff teams.

Taunton, 72 @ Attleboro, 82 – Final – Taunton used a 13-0 run over the end of the third and the beginning of the fourth to cut the deficit to two (59-57) but Attleboro had a response of its own, rattling off a 15-4 run to secure the win. Andrew Milliken hit a pair of threes, Jake Dunkley added four points, Elvin Sam drained a three and freshman Qualeem Charles converted a putback to put Attleboro up 74-63 with just two minutes to go. Dunkley finished with a team-high 21 points, Sam added a career-high 14 points, Milliken had 13 points, Nate Douglas chipped in with 11 points and Charles notched a double-double with 10 points and 10 rebounds. Taunton senior Tommy MacLean dropped a game-high 25 points while Malik Charles, Dante Law and Lens Esquil each scored 10 points for the Tigers.

Canton, 66 @ Stoughton, 69 – Final – Stoughton junior Cam Andrews hit a deep three pointer with just seven seconds left to lift the Black Knights to a win. Andrews finished with 18 points for Stoughton. Canton sophomore Devin Foster scored a career-high 30 points for the Bulldogs.

Oliver Ames, 43 @ Mansfield, 61 – Final – Oliver Ames was able to keep pace with the Hornets for 16 minutes, trailing just 29-26 at halftime but Mansfield created separation in the third quarter and never looked back. The Hornets outscored the visitors 16-7 in the third quarter to take a 45-33 lead going into the final period. Mansfield senior Sam Goldberg scored 17 points and hauled in 12 rebounds while classmate Evan Christo was a perfect 6-6 from the field for 13 points. Phil Vigeant added nine points and Max Boen had seven points and seven rebounds. Nick Welch led OA with 16 points and Dylan Mahoney chipped in with 12 points.

Sharon, 78 @ Milford, 65 – Final – After a high scoring first quarter (23-22, Sharon), the Eagles took a seven point advantage (42-35) in the locker room at halftime. Sharon extended its lead to double-digits in the third, eventually taking a 61-50 lead into the final quarter. Milford cut the deficit to five, 65-60, with 4:40 to play but Sharon closed the game with a 13-5 run. Senior Ricardo Ripley connected on a three in the run, Tommy Modelevsky came up with a timely steal and Sharon was efficient at the free throw line down the stretch. Ripley finished with a team-high 20 points, junior Malik Lorquet had 17 points and 15 rebounds and sophomore Alex Kaufmann chipped in with 15 points.

Girls Basketball
Attleboro, 71 @ Taunton, 44 – Final – Jordyn Lako scored a career-high 24 points for the Bombardiers.

Stoughton, 74 @ Canton, 62 – Final (OT) – Freshman Shyanne Trinh scored 22 of her career-high 32 points in the second half and overtime to lead the Black Knights. Senior Lili Njiem added 14 points, Val Whalen added 12 points, and freshman Aliyah Wright chipped in with 10 points. Junior Jordan Motley added 13 rebounds and seven blocks. Canton’s Emma Murphy and Jess Powers each had 12 points.

King Philip, 52 @ Franklin, 58 – Final – Franklin rallied from 10 points down to start the fourth quarter with a 27-11 run to close out the game. Ali Brigham led the way for the Panthers with 17 points to help Franklin move within one game of tournament qualification. Shannon O’Connor was the top scorer for KP with 14 points.

Mansfield, 61 @ Oliver Ames, 49 – Final –The Hornets scored 40 points in the second half to close out the league campaign with a win. Jen Peel paced Mansfield with 17 points, while Meg Hill chipped in with eight points in the second half and pulled down 11 rebounds. Brenna Burkett was OA’s top scorer with 10 points and Niyera Mitchell had nine.

Milford, 38 @ Sharon, 41 – Final – Emma Eberhardt scored a team-high 15 points and added five steal and three blocks for the Eagles. She also went 3-of-4 from the line in the final 30 seconds to seal the win. Shira Stoller had 12 points and 10 rebounds in the win.

Attleboro, 61 @ King Philip, 58 – Final – Attleboro sophomore completed a traditional three point play with 14 seconds left in the game to give the Bombardiers a 59-58 lead and Jake Dunkley and Andrew Milliken each hit a free throw in the waning moments to earn the win. The Bombardiers rallied from a 20-point deficit in the first half to get the win. Dunkley finished with 14 points, Milliken had 10 and Victor chipped in with 10 points.

Canton, 34 @ North Attleboro, 59 – Final – North Attleboro scored 17 points in the first quarter while holding the Bulldogs to just six and never looked back, snapping a three-game losing streak. “I’m proud of how are kids played tonight,” relayed North coach Sean Mulkerrins. “We weren’t happy with how we played Wednesday so this was important. We challenged our kids to play with more passion tonight. If we continue to play hard on defense and smart on offense we know the results will take care of themselves.” Senior Brent Doherty scored a game-high 17 points while hauling in seven rebounds and classmate Jonny Friberg dropped 16 points and had 14 rebounds. Thomas Reynolds chipped in with 11 points for Big Red. Canton’s Tony Harris and Paul Corcoran each scored seven points.

Foxboro, 67 @ Sharon, 54 – Final – Foxboro erased a first quarter double digit deficit to get within a point at halftime (33-32) and then used a 10-0 to begin the second half. The Warriors went on to win the second half 35-21. Sharon built a 19-5 lead in the first quarter, taking a 21-11 lead after eight minutes. But Foxboro clawed back to get within one by halftime. Junior Joe Morrison and senior Andrew Block each scored 14 points for the Warriors while Mark Clagg added 12 points, Jamaine Few had 11 points and freshman Brandon Borde chipped in with nine points. Sharon junior Malik Lorquet had a game-high 16 points while senior Ricardo Ripley finished with 14 points.

Mansfield, 80 @ Taunton, 72 – Final – Mansfield senior Sam Goldberg scored 18 of his career-high 30 points in the first half and the Hornets held off a late surge from the Tigers to get the win. The Hornets built an early 15 point lead by Taunton battled to get within four (42-38) at halftime. The Tigers used a 6-0 run to start the second half to take the lead but Mansfield took a 59-58 lead into the fourth quarter. Taunton’s Tommy MacLean (14 points) drained a three with just over four minutes to go to bring Taunton with three at 68-65, but Mansfield responded with seven points to extend the lead to 10 with just over two minutes to play. Christian Weber also scored a career-high for the Hornets, netting 23 points including 10 in the final quarter. Taunton freshman Dante Law and sophomore Lou Vendrell each had 15 points for the Tigers while junior Malik Charles had 12 points.

Stoughton, 47 @ Milford, 67 – Final – Milford got off to a strong start and never looked back. Senior Zack Tamagni netted a career-high, dropping 26 points in the win, Shane Cosquete added 11 points and Kayden Kelley notched another double-double with 10 points and 13 rebounds. Stoughton senior Matt Valle scored a career-high 17 points for the Black Knights.

Attleboro, 57 @ King Philip, 41 – Final

Canton, 37 @ North Attleboro, 56 – Final – Caroline Collard scored a team-high 11 points for North, while Julia Feid chipped in with 10. Hannah Jerrier was the top scorer for the Bulldogs with a game-high 19.

Foxboro, 65 @ Sharon, 28 – Final _ Ashley Sampson continued her strong week for the Warriors with a game-high 20 points.

Stoughton, 24 @ Milford, 55 – Final – Kate Irwin paced the Hawks to a big division win with 23 points. Senior Nicole Dahlgren added 16 for Milford, which moves back to .500 in the league and within one win of tournament qualification.

Attleboro, 51 @ Foxboro, 59 – Final (OT) – Foxboro junior Joe Morrison scored 14 of his team-high 21 points in the first half, giving the Warriors a 28-21 lead by the break. Attleboro cut the deficit to two heading into the final quarter and tied the game inside the final minute to send the game to overtime. Foxboro junior Teddy Maher came up clutch with a big three in overtime as the Warriors outscored Attleboro 11-3 in the extra frame. Senior Andrew Block and freshman Brandon Borde added 10 points apiece for Foxboro. Andrew Milliken scored a team-high 14 points for the Bombardiers while freshman Qualeem Charles added 11 points.

Oliver Ames, 56 @ Canton, 45 – Final – Oliver Ames senior Nick Welch scored a career-high 28 points, accounting for half of Oliver Ames’ points in a remarkable performance. Carter Evin added 13 points for the Tigers.

Franklin, 80 @ Sharon, 57 – Final – Franklin scored 26 points in the first quarter and never looked back, hitting the 80 point mark for the second game in a row. Junior Paul Mahon dropped a game-high 18 points while senior Josh Macchi chipped in with 16 points for the Panthers. Sharon junior Malik Lorquet had 13 points and 10 rebounds and senior Ben Stamm added 10 points for the Eagles.

Mansfield, 66 @ Milford, 53 – Final – Milford raced out to a 12-3 lead and stayed within three late in the third quarter, but Mansfield was able to pull away with with a 16-9 final quarter. The Hornets connected on nine three pointers with Max Boen (11 points, six rebounds, four assists) hitting three and Christian Weber (11 points, four assists), Sam Hyland (10 points, five rebounds) and Ben Albanese (six points) each hitting two trifectas. Sam Goldberg led Mansfield with 17 points and 10 rebounds. Milford’s Anthony Arcudi poured in a career-high 30 points while Zack Tamagni added 10 points for the Hawks.

Canton, 33 @ Oliver Ames, 58 – Final – Oliver Ames’ defense limited Canton to just 15 points in the second half while the offense kept its pace to pick up the win at home. Kayla Raymond had 16 points and 15 rebounds, Niyera Mitchell added 16 points and both Hannah Carroll and Abby Reardon netted 10 points.

Sharon, 34 @ Franklin, 76 – Final – The Panthers had four players reach double figures in points led by Carli Koffinke’s 15. Ali Brigham added 12, Margaux Welsh had 11, and Bea Bondhus scored 10 for the Panthers. Sharon freshman Telishya Herbert, a recent varsity call-up, led the Eagles with eight points.

North Attleboro, 51 @ King Philip, 28 – Final – Julia Feid was the top scorer for North Attleboro with 14 points, while fellow sophomore Shannon O’Connor led KP with seven points.

Milford, 43 @ Mansfield, 53 – Final – Jen Peel scored 15 points and dished out eight assists for the Hornets, Ann Maher added 13 points and Meg Hill scored 12 points and pulled to lead Mansfield. Kate Irwin was Milford’s top scorer with 12 points and Christine Pye added eight for the Hawks.

Hockey
Attleboro, 6 @ Mansfield, 5 – Final – Mansfield built a 4-0 lead after the first period but Attleboro stormed back, netting three goals in the second period and then three more in the third period to get the win. Jake Parker scored five goals to lead the comeback for the Bombardiers while Cam Littig scored once.

Taunton, 0 @ Canton, 7 – Final – Bubba McNeice scored twice and Brian Ghostlaw netted his first career goal to pace the Bulldogs. Mike Dadasis and Ryan Lodge scored back to back goals early in the first period to give Canton a 2-0 lead after one period. Charlie Malloy and Ryan Nolte also scored for Canton in the game.

Oliver Ames, 6 @ Foxboro, 1 – Final – Six different players found the back of the net for the Tigers, starting with a goal from junior captain Eric LeBlanc. Senior Mike Nikiciuk added a goal and an assist and freshman Hunter Costello scored his first career goal. Freshman goalie Owen Connor made five saves in the third period.

King Philip, 1 @ Franklin, 3 – Final

North Attleboro, 8 @ Stoughton, 1 – Final – North Attleboro sophomore Anthony Zammiello netted a hat trick in the first period while Devin Sparrow and Justin Moccia each scored their first career goals. Jon Lessa scored a third period goal for the Black Knights.
