Foxboro senior wide receiver Austin Ryan has been selected as the HockomockSports.com Player of the Week for Oct. 4 through Oct. 10; the fifth player chosen in the 2015 season. Ryan scored a pair of touchdowns, one on offense and another on special teams, as the Warriors rolled to a divisional win against Milford.

Ryan caught a 52-yard touchdown pass from Mark Clagg to open the scoring in the first quarter, part of his 84 receiving yards in the game. In the third quarter, Ryan broke the game open with a 99-yard punt return, which Foxboro coach Jack Martinelli believes may be a league record. He also added five tackles on defense.

“Austin is an outstanding student-athlete who performs in all arenas, very team orientated and unassuming of his accomplishments, simply moves on to next week’s challenge,” said Martinelli.

The coach added, “There is no phase of the game that he doesn’t enjoy.  Add demonstrated leadership qualities and you have the epitome of what high school football is all about.”

With the victory, Foxboro remains undefeated at 5-0 on the season and 3-0 in the Hockomock League’s Davenport Division. Ryan and the Warriors will try to continue their perfect start with the visit of division rival Stoughton at Ahern Middle School on Friday night in the HockomockSports.com Game of the Week.

Player of the Week is selected by the HockomockSports.com staff. Nominations can be submitted throughout the week up until Saturday night at midnight. There will be a poll posted on every Sunday with the nominations. The results of the poll influence the selection but do not strictly dictate the decision.
